Job Description

My c lien is a privately-owned modern group, established over thirty years ago in Kings Cross/St Pancras. Whilst they are a group of eclectic brands, each operation has its very own personality, in the same way as our people are unique. The excellence theystrive for is born out of passion and love for the industry.The Groups portfolio is now comprehensive of 3 Hotels, 17 meeting rooms, 1 rooftop terrace, 2 Restaurants, and 1 cocktail Bar.They are now looking for a passionate and experienced Senior & Events Manager for The Derby.The complex is a very well-known meeting and events space in the industry to be one the most versatile locations for all types of encounters. The venue is made of 17 modern meeting rooms and a rooftop terrace, hosting a wide range of events; from large corporatemeetings, and wedding receptions (100 people) to private encounters (4 people).The Sales & Events Manager will have a background in either a 4- or 5-star Hotel, Conference/Events operation, or within a corporate establishment and will be a natural leader with the ability to drive the sales department and achieve set targets throughoutthe business.The ideal candidate will have a strong & bubbly personality, a hands-on approach to the business, and will be experienced in managing a small events team.They are looking for a very well-organized individual with a strategic mindset, strong business and financial acumen, and a solid client portfolio.The Sales & Events Manager will be directly responsible for business development, cross-pollinating and collaborating with Hotels operations. They will be able to deliver exceptional customer service and will be experienced in reactively converting a highnumber of inquiries; organising functions to perfection, managing the events team, and leasing with other departments guaranteeing outstanding experiences.They are looking for a Sales professional with at least 3 years experience within the role in the hospitality field, who can communicate on all levels and is a PMS super user (ideally experience with Guestline/Reslynx but not a must to be considered forthe role).Reporting to the company owner and CEO, and working alongside the Director of Operations and Group Revenue Manager, the Sales & Events Manager will:

  • Conduct proactive sales calls, and meetings, and participate at networking events.
  • Conduct client site visits alongside the team.
  • Maintain and resource new corporate business, establishing a strong relationship with all clients, new and existing.
  • Prepare weekly sales reports, activate strategies on compset, and analyse departmental performance.
  • Be a team player with a proactive and mentoring attitude.
  • Conduct reactive sales: communicating with clients over the phone, via emails, arranging viewings, and negotiating pricing.
  • Use the company PMS, Guestline, to proceed with tracking, allocations, and payments.
  • Ensure all function rooms are clean and set up correctly according to the event requirements.
  • Brief & train the events team regarding menus, functions, and safety procedures (a Health and Safety certificate is essential).
  • Check all the storage areas are clean and tidy.
  • Maintain excellent communication within all departments.
  • Run the department proactively and independently.
To be considered, candidates must:
  • Be able to work under pressure with others calmly, courteously, and methodically.
  • Have an excellent command of English, both verbally and written
  • Experienced with corporate clientele.
  • Be super well organised and very efficient.
  • Be experienced in a similar position.
The role requires someone with superb organisation and communication skills and in-depth events know-how. It is essential to ensure all the departments are adequately briefed and always trained.
