Job Description

Situation A leading London based train operator has a crucial requirement for a Rostering Manager to work alongside the Resourcing Strategy Manager as the department embanks on a transformative journey to improve profitability.The Opportunity: A Rail Operator of The Year Winner requires a capable Rostering Manager to be the charging force behind this key area of the business. Responsible for engaging with trade unions, you will be instrumental in helping transform rostering. and growwith the role, as they undergo their departmental transformation.Job Role:

  • Provide specialist guidance as the rostering subject matter expert to the business on the impacts of future business change to the rostering function including, but not limited to, establishment, T&C changes, manpower planning, pay talks and timetable changes
  • Asist the Resourcing Strategy Manager with the management of the end to end rostering process for Traincrew, Stations, Revenue Protection and Service Delivery functions for base and daily rosters
  • Forward plan changes to the base rosters based on current business knowledge, advising the business on key issues and outcomes
  • Actively develop own skills, keeping abreast of relevant organisational, team and technical trends and to have the ability to apply these as appropriate
  • Build and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with frontline staff, union reps, managers and stakeholders
  • Utilise technology to improve delivery of the rostering function and overall service delivered
  • With the Resourcing Strategy Manager, manage the contract with Tracsis for the rostering software, suggesting iterative improvements and tracking requests through to go live for all operational functions
  • Ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations and that confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Guiding managers on the optimum use of resources
  • Production of reports and analysis as required on the output of the team and current resourcing levels
  • Carry out any project work as required by the Resourcing Strategy Manager or Head of Service Delivery
  • Any other duties as required by the Resourcing Strategy Manager or Head of Service Delivery
Location: LondonRole and Responsibilities:
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • A sound understanding of the rostering process and how these interface with both the planning output and the agreed T&C/standing orders
  • Good knowledge of rail operations, geography and train plans
  • Proven ability in working with people to meet objectives
  • Strong capability in managing and developing business processes
  • Highly analytical and skilled in the use of statistical techniques
  • Good knowledge and experience in the following computer systems: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Tracsis
  • Knowledge of Excel to an intermediate level
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to write clear concise reports
  • Able to prioritise workload effectively to ensure that business objectives and deliverables are met
  • Ability to communicate in different ways (verbally, in writing etc.) to all levels
