Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Romanian-speaking Teaching Assistant to join our team in an Alternative Provision, catering to secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Due to a recent influx of Romanian-speakingpupils, we require a skilled individual to bridge the language barrier and provide invaluable support. If you have experience in managing challenging behaviour and can approach your work with calmness and a nurturing attitude, we invite you to apply for thisvital role.Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with secondary-aged students experiencing SEMH challenges, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, to facilitate academic and personal growth.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, tailored to the needs of our Romanian-speaking students.
  • Foster students self-confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with the schools Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and teaching staff to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviours while maintaining a calm and supportive approach.
  • Facilitate clear and empathetic communication between students, parents, and school staff to overcome language barriers.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Fluent in both Romanian and English.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, particularly with students exhibiting challenging behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage effectively with students who have SEMH needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and dedicated commitment to positively impact the lives of young people.
  • Understanding of SEMH issues and the ability to employ effective strategies for student support.
