This is why we are building a culture of belonging with a workforce that reflects the markets we serve.The Risk Associate (III), UK will help support the execution of the second line of defence (2LOD) elements of our risk management framework, primarily around operational risk. The role reports to the Manager, Risk Management, UK and specialises in operationalrisk management and enterprise risk management.Areas of Responsibilities:Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA)

  • Support the UK Risk Manager in providing a robust review and challenge of each RCSA review that is delivered by the 1LOD.
  • Support the UK Risk Manager in owning and maintaining the RCSA methodology and associated templates (providing awareness training if needed).
  • Through liaison with key stakeholders, support the review and challenge over the delivery of the RCSA schedule for critical processes and products.
Risk Management Policies and Frameworks
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to help support the drafting and maintenance of risk management related policies and 2LOD procedures, specifically around Operational Risk and Enterprise risk matters.
  • Supporting the maintenance and development other 2LOD risk management frameworks and policies as necessary, for example the UK operational Risk framework/manual, UK operational risk policy, etc.
Risk Events and Issue Management
  • Support the UK Risk Manager in regular second-line review and challenge process over risk events and owning the process/governance/documentation around this.
  • Performing quarterly trend analysis and deep dives of risk events, to support risk assessments and enable management decision-making.
  • Support the UK Risk Manager in conducting second-line oversight and challenge of the Issue management process and governance.
Operational Riskother
  • Monitoring regulatory, industry and Group developments with respect to operational and enterprise risk management.
  • Support the UK Risk Manager in providing operational risk training and awareness to the first line of defence as per SVB UK needs and plans.
Other
  • Provide support to the key custodian and local champion for the EMEA GRC solution.
  • Help to collate management information and draft or input into papers required for senior management / committee reporting.
  • Assisting Business Risk Managers, UK Compliance and wider parts of EMEA where appropriate and necessary.
  • Help with completing and tracking progress against the Risk Management program milestones.
  • Liaise with the Group function as necessary, for example the Group ERM and Operational Risk function.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required and requested by line management and senior management.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working in a Risk function within UK financial services and ideally within a second line of defence role.
  • Experience and qualifications relating to operational risk and enterprise risk highly desirable.
  • Exposure to broader risk types e.g. regulatory, conduct is needed.
  • Exposure to financial risk types such as credit, capital, liquidity and market risk is desirable at high level but not needed.
  • Experience of analytical tools/reporting/GRC tools desirable.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education desirable.
  • An ability to work independently in completing assigned duties.
  • Strong planning, coordination and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills needed.
  • An interest in the technology sector and venture capital / private equity transactions.
  • An ability to quickly gain a thorough knowledge of SVBs bank operations and products hence commercial banking experience would be desirable.
