Job Description

Residential Care Officer Level 1Lincolnshire County Council has an exciting opportunity for Residential Care Officers to join us in making a significant difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable children and young people.What you will doInthis incredibly rewarding role as a Residential Care Officer youll be passionate about care and deeply committed to helping our children and young people some of who have disabilities and can present with challenging and aggressive behaviour. You will havethe ability to professionally nurture children and young people and be able to help them to grow and develop socially and emotionally. Whether our carers are helping a child or young person to learn to do practical tasks independently such as brushing theirteeth or teaching them to process the information around them or dealing with challenging behaviour, they embrace the emotional and physical demands of our work with readiness and courage. Youll help to run the home, cooking meals, administering medicationand performing some cleaning duties. Youll also spend time in the community taking the children for days out or trips to the local shops, no two days are the same in residential care. You will also work with other agencies such as education, childrens socialcare, police and health to help create and action holistic plans that meet our childrens needs. Youll also liaise with parents and go with children to spend time with their family and friends.Some children will remain at our homes short term/long term, somewill move on to live with family members, foster carers or semi-independent living. We strive to keep all of our children connected with their families with the hope of being able to live with their families once again.Our roles are offered on a full time/permanentbasis where you will work a shift pattern. More information can be found in the attached brochure.About the different homesWe have 3 mainstream homes, Albion Street, Northolme and Eastgate where the children in our care are aged 8 - 18 years old. We have 3children with disability homes, The Beacon is long term and care for children ages 8-18 and Haven Cottage and Strut House are short term breaks where the children in our care are aged 5 - 18 years old. We also have a Secure Unit in Sleaford that gives thehighest level of care and education for young people who are placed via the courts for Youth Justice or Welfare reasons.We currently have vacancies at The Beacon, Albion Street, Strut House and Haven Cottage.To find out more about the different homes clickon the attached JPGs where you are encouraged to contact the Home Manager for an informal discussion.About youWe are looking for someone who: Is caring and playful, our children have lots of energy and like to explore and play Enjoys spending time with childrenand helping them to stay connected to their families and friends Is passionate about the care of children and young people, you will be able to create an environment where children feel safe, nurtured, loved and at home Is curious about what a child mightneed and enthusiastic about helping to meet their needs Able to set boundaries in a firm but hugely kind way and learn to use different approaches Willing to undertake a QCF qualification in working with children.
