Job Description

Research & Governance Programme Manager (NJR)Location: UK, home-basedSalary: Circa £45,000Details: 1.0 FTEAre you seeking a new challenge to help drive improvement in patient outcomes Would you value an opportunity to develop your skills in a project-based role We would love to hear from you.The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) is an independent organisation established to promote quality in healthcare and in particular to increase the impact that clinical audit has on health care improvement. We manage NHS clinical work programmeson behalf of NHS England and other devolved nations. This includes the National Clinical Audit & Patient Outcome Programme (NCAPOP) which consists of over forty National Clinical Audits and clinical outcome review programmes.The National Joint Registry (NJR) collects data about joint replacement surgery (hip, knee, elbow, shoulder, ankles) in order to provide an early warning of issues relating to patient safety, improve the quality of outcomes and ensure cost effectiveness ofjoint replacement surgery, through monitoring and reporting outcomes on orthopaedic implants, hospitals and surgeons, and supporting and enabling research. The NJR is the largest arthroplasty register and one of the most influential healthcare registries inthe world with a significant international profile. It is managed by the NJR Steering Committee, designated as an NHS England expert committee and reports through the NJR Chairman to NHS England and NHS Improvement.We are a small, friendly team working in a fast-paced environment and are seeking a Research and Governance Programme Manager to join our team. You will manage the NJRs processes for sharing registry data with researchers as well as overseeing our compliancewith information governance requirements. If you have had previous experience in research governance or healthcare information governance or are seeking a new challenge and have the relevant experience and skills, we would love to hear from you.Our work focuses on the following key strategic areas:- Using best management and procurement practice, we commission, manage, support and promote national and local programmes of quality improvement- We encourage wide use of robust data for quality improvement of care, offering patient choice, promoting patient safety, supporting revalidation and service accreditation, commissioning, service redesign, and research- We inform and influence national healthcare policy by effectively communicating our work and that of our partners- We support healthcare professionals to review and improve their practice by providing opportunities to share best practice- We ensure that patients and carers are at the heart of our work through continued, strategic involvement in all relevant processes and projectsThe NJR management team, based at HQIP, manages the registrys work across its governance structure - comprising the NJR Steering Committee and eight NJR sub committees - and services contracted through two key contracts covering data management and solutionsand statistical analysis and support.Key requirements of this position are:- To lead the operational management and co-ordination of the NJR Research and NJR Data and Information Governance function- Support the Research Committee Chair in the management and administration of the Research Committee, including the preparation of agendas, production of papers, recording of minutes and follow up of action. This includes handling correspondence; liaisingwith senior personnel and clinicians from health and social care organisations; providing advice and expertise as required on related research and data governance matters- To act as the main point of contact for the NJR Research Fellows and provide advice and supervision on governance matters relating to their programme of study- Manage commissioned research projects on behalf of the Research Committee Chairman, to ensure they are delivered on time and to budget- To oversee the process of monitoring approved research requests, monitoring progress and collating updates from applicants, with oversight of the abstract review process- To provide advice and expertise on issues of data management, data sharing and governanceKey personal specification requirements are:- Graduate calibre with at least 5-7 years relevant experience within area of responsibility- Experience of managing programmes related to information or research governance- Track record in successful management of projects and programmes- Experience of developing and implementing standard operating procedures- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail- Excellent planning and organisational skills- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and work to challenging targets and deadlines- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and communities- Excellent communication skills- Analytical and problem-solving skills- Excellent IT skillsHow to applyTo apply, please select the apply button shown to be taken through to the application process.For all roles you will be asked to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK at application and throughout the duration of your employment.Please note that HQIP is unable to sponsor candidates at any stage of the application process or during employment with HQIP.Closing date for applications: 15th July 2022 5pmInterviews are planned for: W/C 25th July 2022Due to the high volume of applications, feedback is only given to shortlisted applicants.Further informationFor further information about the post, please contact Chris Boulton, NJR Deputy Director of Operations.This vacancy is being advertised by Webrecruit.
