Job Description

Summary Role OverviewThe Compliance team is currently recruiting for a Regulatory Engagement Manager to oversee and lead the Banks engagement with, and notifications to, its regulators. The role holder will be working alongside and supporting the Banks leadership team, witha view to:1. ensuring robust, coordinated and effective regulatory engagement across the organisation2. overseeing the Banks approach to horizon scanning and regulatory change and, as required, escalating to the appropriate management committee3. providing the Banks senior leadership with an overview, and when required, a detailed appraisal of external regulatory developments and initiatives.The role will be based at 3 Thomas More Square, London. Occasional travel, both in the UK and Sweden, may be necessary.Package CompetitiveMain Responsibilities An exciting role has opened within the Compliance team to oversee the Banks regulatory engagement process. This is a key role which will require the successful candidate to work with the Banks senior leadership; consequently, excellent stakeholder management,communication (oral and written) and influencing skills are essential.The Bank is in frequent dialogue with its regulators, resulting in a constantly evolving range of commitments. It will be the responsibility of the successful candidate to keep track of these commitments, as well as to ensure all material contact is satisfactorilycaptured, with necessary MI and reports produced ahead of management meetings.The role holder will also be expected to work with colleagues on the Banks formal responses to regulatory consultations, discussion papers and other significant regulatory engagements.Key responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining Bank instructions and processes for regulatory communications, covering standard interactions and incidents.
  • Working with the Banks senior leadership team to produce quality regulatory communications (notifications, responses to regulator queries, information requests etc.)
  • Co-ordinating cross-cutting regulatory responses, tracking their passage to the regulators and providing advice where required.
  • Internal reporting such as Board reports on regulatory engagement, notifications and key regulatory change / developments.
  • Overseeing and facilitating horizon scanning and regulatory change forums with a diverse audience from across the Bank.
  • Briefing Executive Team members ahead of meetings with the regulator.
  • Attending meetings with the regulator to capture detailed and accurate minutes, record and track commitments made during each meeting, and ensure outputs / areas of discussion are brought to the attention of the Banks senior leadership team.
  • Organising and chairing the standing regulatory engagement meetings, ensuring the regulatory engagement tracker which forms the basis of the meeting is updated, agendas are circulated, and actions from the meeting are communicated.
The role holder will operate in line with the Banks Risk Management Framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager (the Headof Regulatory Governance and Reporting).Ideal Candidate
  • Candidates will preferably have a legal background / experience of UK financial services regulation
  • Prior experience of working at the FCA or PRAs Supervisory team is preferred
  • Previous experience of regulatory engagement is required
  • Ability to take a proactive, risk-based approach
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience of communicating with senior bank stakeholders
  • Experience of drafting documents for senior stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, and an interest in regulatory developments
  • A positive attitude which is focused on development and implementing practical solutions
  • Compliance and/or banking qualifications are desirable although not essential
  • As the team grows, future line management responsibility may be required, therefore experience of managing others would be desirable.
