Role: Senior StatisticianContract Length:6 monthsLocation: Newcastle, Leeds, London & SheffieldIR35: In ScopeSecurity Clearance: SCCore Purpose Part of flexible team working on Family Resources Survey (FRS) Transformation - making better use of administrative dataWorkstrands include:- Completion of admin-survey data linking methodology - with ability to reproduce for future datasets- Discovery: Reconciling HMRC and DWP administrative income/benefits data with existing survey-based equivalents- Discovery: Developing imputation methods for non-matched cases- Producing and analysing test admin-based series - Initially focus on 1 year- Non-response research - with recommendations for future changes to sampling stratification and grossing methodology- Producing and analysing test admin-based series - additional years of survey data- Developing future end to end FRS process to make best use of admin data linking- Discovery: FRS questionnaire be streamlinedSummary of the Role and key responsibilities Part of flexible team working on Family Resources Survey (FRS) Transformation - making better use of administrative dataTechnical Skills requiredPlease list in priority of order the 3 or 4 most important key criteria, this will be used by PSR for siftingThis should also include the Levels of skills you require Qualifications at all levels are based on are cross Government Profession specific requirements.Minimum qualifications:A first or second class honours degree in relevant subject area e.g. Statistician:A first or second class honours degree in a subject containing formal statistical training (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies, Psychology, Geography Data Science or similar);Alternatively must hold other relevant professional statistical qualification or demonstrate working experience and track record of working in a statistical role.1. In depth knowledge of statistical software tools for applying standard statistical techniques. SAS is the current departmental standard too for analysis so experience in SAS or aptitude to pick up the skills quickly is vital.Knowledge and Experience required:e.g. Previous experience of working for a government dept.Proven analytical experience using both large-scale survey data and administrative data. Ability to work independently towards own objectives, effectively prioritising competing demands to deliver to deadlines, using forward planning to identify risks and issues. Ability to provide accurate, expert and professional advice to support effective decisions. Commitment to Quality Assurance and able to identify limitations within data and analysis. Ability to communicate analysis clearly, choosing appropriate styles to ensure understanding and maximise impact. Evidence of actively managing relationships with a range of stakeholders, seeking and learning from feedback and developing their own reputation.No previous Government experience necessaryOther:This is the nice to have but not essential criteria The post holder will be working within a wider project and will be responsible for project management of their own work strands, and using Agile principles in an analytical context as part of that wider team.
