Job Description

Qualified Senior Social WorkerLocation: East London Pay rate: £40k to £43k per annum plus retention bonus We have a Permanent Opportunity an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated Childrens Care and Support Team . This role is to act as a senior specialist member of a social work unit providing effective outstanding or excellent social work services to children and their families, with the purpose of safeguarding and promoting their welfare. Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience youll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills youll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.Youll be committed to ensure positive and sustainable results of your interventions. Using best practice, youll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly however, youll have a passion for supporting children and their families to ensure that they thrive and flourish. Your priority will be to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possiblePerfect candidate will be: • Qualified Social Worker registered with HCPC.• Have a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check for Children.• Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.• Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.• Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.• Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.• Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.• Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans• Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service• Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis• 2 Years plus Post Qualified In this role you will: • To h hold a caseload of complex children deemed to be at high risk of significant harm through a range of exploitative situations. The Senior worker will be expected to demonstrate the ability to record to a high standard capturing the voice of the child, show evidence of analysis and reflection throughout.• To act as lead practice educator for the social work unit by providing support and advice and offer shadowing opportunities to Student Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers subject to Assessed and Supported Year in Employment and missing children co ordinators; to share specialist social work knowledge and research across the social work unit.• To ensure the provision of a comprehensive induction for all new staff• To ensure that services are efficiently and effectively provided, liaising as necessary with other Council Divisions, Health, Education, Police, voluntary and independent sector providers.• Working within the London Child Protection procedures to undertake key work responsibilities for children subject to a child protection plan.• To work collaboratively with other Council Divisions, Statutory Agencies including health, Education and Police, and other independent and voluntary service providers.• Undertaking responsibilities towards children in care of the authority, including:i) Formulating and progressing care plans in line with national and local procedures.ii) Ensuring that the health and education needs of all children in care are met in accordance with National Standards.iii) Ensuring that all procedural requirements with respect to reviewing, consultation and recording are adhered to.• To maintain performance standards in line with Divisional expectations and national guidance, and to alert the Team Manager of any concerns in relation to staff performance.• To support the development of relational practice across Childrens Social Care Divisions.• Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.• Manage an agreed case load.• Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.• Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment.• Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students to assist development.The above mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the postholder may be called upon to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Line Manager within the grading level of the post and the competence of the postholder.This role is ideally located for those travelling from Wembley, Brentwood, Barking, Dartford, Basildon, Enfield, Dagenham, Edgeware, Richmond, Ilford, Stratford, Romford.
