Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Public Health Programme Lead to to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the community for one of our local government clients based in London E14.The Public Health Programme Lead will lead on important elements of the Healthy Children and Families’ Covid-19 response. They will work closely with the team’s Programme Manager for the Covid-19 response and other team members to ensure these priorities are delivered, including:

  • Ensuring schools are supported in their management of cases and outbreaks
  • Leading public health input into support for clinically extremely vulnerable children
  • Oversight of infection control training for services working with children
  • Developing the school health service role in the Covid-19 pandemic
  • Providing leadership in the reduction of inequalities relating to children and families
  • Engaging in and facilitating the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines in children’s settings
  • Developing a Covid-19 recovery strategy for children and families
  • Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
  • Masters level qualification in Public Health or related subject or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Substantial experience (minimum of 5 years) of public health practice including 3 years at senior level.
  • In depth understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics and health care evaluation.
  • Extensive experience of undertaking health needs assessment, health care evaluation, equity audits, clinical and non-clinical audits or quality assurance, health strategy and policy development.
  • Extensive experience of conducting literature reviews, critical appraisals and communicating findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the nature and sources of routine and ad hoc health, social care and wider public health data sets.
  • Understanding of NHS and local government cultures, structures and policies.
  • Knowledge of methods of developing clinical quality assurance, quality improvement and evidence based clinical and/or public health practice.
  • Demonstrable skills in strategic planning and policy development.
