Murphy & Sons Limited is a leading global, specialist engineering and construction company founded in 1951 that improves lives by delivering world-class infrastructure.Job description:Project Manager (Water) - LondonMurphy are recruiting an experienced civils Project Manager to deliver the full life-cycle, design to delivery of major pipeline in clean water upgrades.Murphy are delivering clean and wastewater civil infrastructure projects under AMP 7 for Thames Water in North London over 5-years. Projects will range in complexity and value from £500k£30m.As Project Manager it is typical to be leading on 3 projects at any one time depending on your previous skills and experience.What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver all work on a medium sized site or many smaller sites, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
  • Ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed and delivered.
  • Build and develop the wider operational team to deliver all aspects of the project/contract requirements.
  • Line management of Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and Section Managers.
  • Responsible for effective client relationship management and provides updates to internal and external stakeholders on project/contract progress.
  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required.
  • Ensures operating plans are in place to ensure sufficient resources and materials are in place.
  • Responsible for a contract with an indicative turnover of between £1M - £15M per annum
  • Responsible for all commercial activities associated with the project including the delivery of the agreed gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics.

Who were looking for
  • successful experience as a Project Manager with demonstrable acumen to deliver a good profit margin
  • previous experience on a water/utilities project worth £15 million +
  • proven ability to lead teams and performance manage
  • IT literate: Microsoft Office etc
  • Experience of planning and estimating
The Project
  • Thames Water AMP7 is a 4-year long framework (plus a possible 5 year extension into AMP8)
  • Murphy is a Primary Contractor in Lot 5 North London Infrastructure, value £200m
  • The framework will consist of the delivery of ECI, detailed design, build, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes
  • Include individual projects up to £30m (majority will be less than £15m with average value of £57m)
  • Design Partner in place
  • Featuring repairs and build of new assets including water treatment plants, pump stations, sewers, pipeline, reservoirs and drainage.
