Swansea Council Highways and Transportation department are seeking to appoint a Project Engineer in the Highways Planned Maintenance Team.You will be an experienced, conscientious and self-motivated individual to work within a busy professional team. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the role of senior engineer carrying out supervision and management of a number of large highways resurfacing contracts.The appropriate qualification in civil engineering, highway engineering or the equivalent is essential. Professional qualifications would be desirable but significant equivalent experience in Highways contracts would be accepted.You will ideally have a substantial experience of highway assessment and resurfacing, operations, supervision and of managing contractors. Knowledge of the NEC3 contracts and their preparation would be desirable. The ability to use in relation to managing financial control over a large programme of works is essential.You will need the ability to manage heavy workloads and meet strict deadlines and targets and to be flexible with hours in relation to overseeing schemes.Provide support and close liaison with a small team of Engineers, reporting to the Team Leader, Planned Maintenance Drainage and Coastal Engineering.The role sometimes involves an element of public confrontation, as a result, candidates will require a pragmatic disposition and a common sense approach.A driving licence is essential for this role.To discuss this role in more depth, please contact Mike Sweeney on .
