Health and well-being are a top priority for us because we understand the importance of creating a respectful, supportive, and transparent environment for all our employees.The Role:Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation, the Programme Director Health Technology Evaluation - Devices, Diagnostics and Digital will be responsible for all aspects of strategic leadership, development, management and delivery of three programmes: the Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme, the Diagnostics Programme, and the Interventional Procedures Programme.At a time when so much of our work changing, you will be leading and inspiring the team’s contribution to centre and organisation-wide transformation programmes, including NICE Connect.You will be part of CHTE’s centre management team, thinking and acting strategically, providing advice and expert input to support the direction and effective management of the centre.What youwill bring to NICE:To be considered for this role, we are looking for:

  • Doctorate, MBA, or equivalent professional qualification and further specialist training or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development
  • Post graduate senior level experience in a relevant specialist area such as the delivery of health technology assessment processes and operations, and significant formal theoretical and conceptual training
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices
  • Specialist knowledge over more than one discipline/function acquired over a significant period
  • An understanding of the social, political, economic and technological context in which the NHS and the Institute operates
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate highly complex ideas to a range of audiences where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage complex projects involving multidisciplinary functions and deliver work of a high standard with conflicting and demanding deadlines
  • The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience of a senior management role in a complex environment
  • Expertise in one of the disciplines of health technology assessment (e.g. health economics, systematic review, pharmacy, epidemiology, statistics, clinical research, ethics)
  • Experience of taking overall responsibility for a programme of work with minimal supervision
  • Experience of developing effective relationships and working with national committees and senior professionals at a national level
  • Line management and training experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience of preparing reports and providing advice on complex issues at Director / Board level and to specialist committees
