Job Description

Job Purpose: We are seeking an outstanding candidate to be a Product Valuation Methodology Specialist, reporting into the Rates & Currencies Valuation Methodology Lead. The role will provide expert thought-leadership on technical valuation issues within the Rates & CurrenciesVCG across all regions and will require excellent technical, communication as well as negotiation skills and teamwork across multiple businesses and locations. This is a position for an experienced, dynamic, technically-strong candidate, who can manage allaspects of the role. Valuation Methodology is a team within the Valuation Control Group (VCG), and one which is crucial and highly influential. This team focuses on a wide-ranging and evolving scope of initiatives, from known valuation and governance issues to areas of changingand emerging market practice. The focus of this team is to investigate these issues, provide thought-leadership to senior management on their resolution, and to provide specific, practical and implementable advice on how to address the issues. Some of thiswill involve creation of new controls, implementation of new techniques, and the drafting of formal policy and other important governance documents, so senior-level experience of these disciplines is essential.Job background/context: The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent global group responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory consistently across all asset classes. VCG is organized along business lines and clients of the group include Business Heads, Line Product Control, Market Risk, Model Risk, Compliance, Legal Department, Middle Office, Internal Audit, external audit firms and the regulatory bodies in countriesimpacted by Citis footprint. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation control policy. There will be regular interaction with a wide variety of other functions within Markets and Banking globally and within the Global Product Control organization.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective challenge and Valuation Methodology support to Rates & Currencies VCG teams
  • Interact with Rates & Currencies VCG teams to lead development and implementation of consistent valuation methodologies and strong valuation control frameworks
  • Ensure timely remediation of regulatory matters requiring attention, audit findings and associated reporting demands associated with the area of responsibility
  • Identify pricing issues, valuation methodology inconsistencies, valuation parameters or instrument types that may require particular attention with critical analysis of the valuation issues involved and propose practical solutions
  • Enhance and effective manage VCG control and governance framework
  • Support the implementation of new controls and techniques
  • Work across teams & silos, and to leverage existing relationships
  • Take active role as part of the broader regional and global product control team
T he successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a leadership role within their Valuation Control Group. Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years experience in a valuation, risk or product control related discipline
  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in finance, economics or quantitative related subject.
Skills/experience:
  • Strong understanding of valuation methodologies for fair-valued instruments (with a focus on complex / exotic derivatives) in particular hands-on experience in Independent Price Verification, Valuation Adjustments, Fair Value Levelling
  • Hands-on experience of implementing new or enhancing existing valuation methodologies. Working with other stakeholders in driving change
  • Strong understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to fair valuation of financial instruments
  • Strong understanding of designing, implementing and maintaining an effective and robust control framework.
  • Ability to understand complex concepts, communicate complex ideas concisely and effectively challenge peers in Finance, Risk and the Business
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of digital tools (Phyton, KNIME, PowerBI etc) are highly beneficial
