Job Description

We are the UK’s number one keyholding and alarm response specialist, using technology and data to solve complex challenges in order to keep people, their property and their products safe.We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to join the team and take our existing products from functional to lovable and scalable and also lead on an exciting new product. Going through the discover, define and design phases and taking a brand-new product to market.If youre passionate about the idea of working for a disruptive, innovative business and are excited by the prospect of being our first Product Designer with autonomy to bring in new ways of thinking, to evangelise customer needs and ultimately create great experiences then read on…As The Keyholding Company’s first product designer, you will bring your knowledge and experience of Design Thinking, UX and UI design patterns and User Research techniques to help define, and then deliver upon, the product strategy.Youll report into the Product Director but with autonomy to lead the design approach across the business. You’ll work closely with the Product, Technology, Business and Strategy teams. You will have a high level of input in to both the product strategy and delivery, using your knowledge to identify improvement opportunities and create data and customer-led solutions.While we are innovative and disruptive and have the energy of a start-up, we also have the benefits and stability of a well-developed client based.We operate in both the B2B and B2C spaces and have exciting plans for both, so if thats piqued your interest, take a look at the requirements of the role and if it fits the bill - click apply!Quick disclaimer - for the time being, were operating fully remotely. When things are back to normal we tend to work 3 days at our central London office (Farringdon) and 2 days at home. If you have different needs, please let us know!You’ll be:

  • Be the leader and the face of design practices within the business, coaching the leadership team on best practice and the benefits of a customer-led approach
  • Understand the companys mission and product strategy across both B2B (Business) and B2C (Home)
  • Provide the human side to product development by identifying and focussing on customer needs
  • Partner with the product team on product discovery, including leading on research yourself
  • Conduct design thinking, ideation and feature definition workshops with the team and with select clients
  • Create a design approach for our existing, and future, product ecosystem
  • Create mockups, wireframes and prototypes for our website and apps
  • Ensure our products solve customer problems and form a cohesive ecosystem
  • You should apply if you:
  • are excited about the prospect of being our first Product Designer, and all the opportunities (and challenges!) that come along with it
  • want to make a difference through the products that you create
  • have plenty of experience and knowledge of both UX and UI concepts including interaction design, prototyping and information architecture
  • have both web and app design experience
  • previously conducted user research and product discovery
  • are comfortable with tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Zeplin and InVision (we currently use Figma, but you would be able to influence the tools we use)
  • have experience creating design guidelines and style guides
  • are proficient with A/B testing
  • And some bonus criteria:
  • Experience across B2B and B2C
  • Ability to use Google Analytics and Power BI
  • Experience at a scaling business
  • Experience as the first design hire/ setting up design principles
  • You have created UI Design Systems and UI Libraries
  • You have experience writing copy for apps and websites
