Job Description

The roleWe are looking for an individual who will architect in collaboration with the DPO, lead and implement a Privacy Programme for the organisation,which reflects the requirements under GDPR and other privacy and data protection laws and regulations in the jurisdictionsin which it operates. They will inform and operationalise the companysprivacy and data protection obligations, the formulation and implementation of such policies and initiatives as are necessary to satisfy those obligations, assist cross-functional teamson the client and internally led initiatives that involve personal data, develop and advise on data protection impact assessments, implement and update privacy by design and default principles, and act as a contact point for data subjects and the supervisoryauthorities. The privacy manager will work closely with theDPO (who will remain primarily responsible for advising the organisation on privacy and data protection compliance).What youll doKey responsibilities in this role will include (but are not be limited to):

  • Lead the design and implementation of procedures, policies, and guidance that ensures that the organisationhas an effective, holistic data privacy policy and that itssystems and processes comply with all relevant privacy and data protection laws and regulations,and internalpolicies.
  • Maintain appropriate records to demonstrate the principle of accountability under Data Protection legislation.
  • Engage with other business functions to undertake Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments, Transfer Impact Assessments and other reviews as required.
  • Maintain an Issue/Risk log, with recommendations and mitigations.
  • Periodically review and update internal and external Privacy Notices to ensure they are consistent with the internalprocessing of personal data.
  • Handle and manage personal data protection-related queries and complaints from data subjects in an appropriate manner, including recommending any actions to be taken by the companyto address a complaint or any feedback from relevant regulators.
  • Foster data protection awareness and accountability among employees and communicate personal data protection policies to stakeholders.
  • Work with the companysdevelopers to implement and oversee a Privacy by Design" approach.
  • Work with the internalSecurity and Privacy Relationship managers to provide input into key discussions with future customers and metrics on how privacy is being implemented by the company
  • Support other business functions with data privacy matters including customer engagements, and onboarding/offboarding of subprocessors and vendors.
  • Review Data Processing and Data Transfer Agreements.
  • Support the DPO with external data privacy audits.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer as required.
What youll need
  • Expert knowledge of GDPR and other privacy laws, regulations and policy in all major jurisdictions where the company operates or affects our clients
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional CIPP/E
  • Able to offer guidance on risk assessments, mitigation measures, privacy by design and default, subject access requests, standard contractual terms with our clients and third-party vendors, and data protection impact assessments
  • Solution-focused, pragmatic and able to draft key documents when involved in internal initiatives, projects, rollouts, etc., rather than simply advisory
  • Experience working in a privacy function responding to items such as subject access requests etc.
  • Experience working in regulated environments/banking and/or a FinTech
  • Excellent communication and team engagement skills
