Job Title: Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental (Safety) Location: Filton, Bristol, Portsmouth, Frimley, Devonport, Brough, Manchester and Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role Salary - Circa £58,000 (Dependent on Experience) What you’ll be doing: • Derive and manage Product Safety Requirements • Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System • Produce and manage Project Safety Management Plans • Lead Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management, and assessment activities • Provide Product Safety Engineering advice to the wider BAE Systems and MOD communities • Oversee the administration and management of Project Hazard Logs • Influence the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case, including Safety Case Reports • Support the production of training material to support training delivery • Deliver training to the Product Safety & Environmental domains and the wider BAE Systems community • Lead engagement with internal and external customers, ensuring that their requirements are fully considered and adequately supported where appropriate and agreed • Produce, present and articulate clear and logical technical safety arguments • Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation • Oversee and peer review junior roles in the Product Safety Team • Understand the application of the wider Safety Case, Quality and HS and E • Support the appropriate meetings and working groups • Chair hazard identification meetings • Support the development of realistic programme status updates, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans • Develop business footprint through business winning Your skills and experiences: Essential: • Demonstrable engineering background - degree or equivalent experience • Chartered engineer, or working towards chartership • Leading Hazard Identification activities Desirable: • A background in Product Safety and/or Submarines • Knowledge of Def-Stan 00-56 • Knowledge of Defence Maritime Regulator (DMR) and/or MOD processes Benefits: You’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The Submarine Support In-Service Safety & Environmental Team: As the Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental (Safety) you will provide In-Service support to the Engineering Delivery Manager in the delivery of key Safety related artefacts supporting sea going platforms. The reactive nature of this role, and unpredictabilityof In-Service operations, ensures that tasking is varied and provides the opportunity for a successful candidate to develop opportunities for new business in areas that interest them.
