Job Description

Primary School Teacher to required asap to work in an alternative provision with low student to teacher ratios. As a Primary Teacher at this school you will be working with students with SEMH needs.

As a Primary Teacher in this school you will be working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who have been permanently excluded, allocated a place through SEN consultation or via the Securing Education Board on a short-term placement.A high number of our pupils also have an additional diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD.You will work with pupils whose special educational needs mean that accessing mainstream provision is too difficult for them and they require a higher level of support. There are small classrooms of up to six pupils, with a high staff-to-pupil ratio, ensuringthat children are given the correct support when needed across the school day.Using a trauma-informed approach, staff work closely with pupils and families to develop positive relationships in order to remove barriers to learning and personal development.The school believe that all behaviour is communication, and base their approachon three core elements: celebration, restoration and de-escalation.The school offer a bespoke curriculum that supports children by identifying gaps in their learning and understanding. Pupils also have opportunities to take part in activities such as swimming, music therapy and interventions led in partnership with theEducational Psychology service and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.Using a person-centred approach, the school work with pupils and their families towards a transition to a suitable future school placement.
