This is an ongoing position with the view to turn permanentPAYE £15.64 per hour +paid annual leave accrual 31 days per yearumbrella £21.74 per hour with no paid annual leaveAn exciting opportunity has arisen with a central/West London council as a Premises Assistant/caretaker PURPOSE OF JOB Shift patternThis will be working for an adult educartion centre- Term Time hours Monday to Thursday - 4.30pm-9.30pm Friday - 9am-5.30pm Saturday - 8.30am-4.30pmOut of term time 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday (These hours are flexible/negotiable)Role-to closely liaise with the senior site carethe duties, activities and functions for which the postholder will be responsible shall include the following:a) Cleaning where necessary around the buildingsb) Building and Ground Maintenancec) Safetyd) Securitye) General Site Care Functions and ServicesBe responsible for ensuring the maintenance of a clean, safe and hygienic environment at all times, ensuring compliance with procedures and standards set by Senior Management and the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) (or other legislationthat may superseded this) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSSH).The Premises Assistant will be responsible for primary floor care, high level cleaning, light fitting cleaning, the prompt removal of graffiti and emergency toilet cleaning as appropriateShall be responsible for the safe and appropriate removal of body fluids, vomit and other soiling and subsequent hygienic cleaning as soon as practicable using specified methods and materials in accordance with Health and Safety Guidelines for such activitiesShall be responsible for the cleaning of internal glasswork including glazed doors, vision panels, partitions and other glazed lights discrete to doorways to a working height not exceeding 4m from floor level on each floor of the premises.Shall be responsible for any other cleaning requirements and procedures as may be reasonably required from time to time following medical or Health and Safety advice or that of other legislative agenciesEnsure the good condition, presentation, upkeep and maintenance of the premises and external areas at all timesTake all appropriate steps to ensure speedy repairs are undertaken and correct maintenance procedures are followed at all timesUndertake minor repairs eg, fitting of locks, fixing of shelves, repair of furniture and other similar tasksUse appropriate procedures to initiate or undertake repairs, maintain and complete records of work requested and carried out and follow up all outstanding work.Undertake the regular testing of the fire alarm system as specified frequencies and the replacement of break glasses as necessaryRegularly ensure all grounds, flowerbeds, shrubs and trees are litter free. Carry out sweeping, leaf clearance, weeding of paved or hard areas. Ensuring litter bins/recycling bins are emptied when the regular collection days are due.
