Prospero teaching are currently working with a secondary school based in Redbridge who are currently looking for a Premises Assistant.The role is to assist in the general upkeep of the school premises and grounds, and for providing a safe, secure, clean and warm environment for all children, staff and visitors; carrying out the duties of the post with regard to the Trusts and equal opportunitiespolicies and shared values.Duties will include:Ensure that buildings, site and resources are secure, undertaking daily security checks including locking and unlocking ofbuildings at pre-determined times.Undertake cleaning of allocated areas in line with specified standards and as directed.Store allocated equipment and materials safely and securely.Keep records relating to maintenance and security.Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations (COSHH) and take action where hazards are identified, reportserious hazards to line manager immediately.Undertake general portage duties including moving furniture and equipment within school.Undertake minor repairs (i.e. not requiring qualified craftsperson) and maintenance of the buildings and site.Operate systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security (including CCTV and alarms).Receive deliveries to the school site.Collect and assemble waste for collection.Undertake general portageOperate / use domestic and industrial cleaning equipment and materials, following appropriate training.Refill and replace soap, towels and other materials.Assist with the maintenance of specialised equipment following training, for example sports/theatrical equipment.Act as a designated key holder, providing emergency access to the school site.Act as school contact in relation to premises related contractors.To collaborate with staff across the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust, sharing ideas and best practice.Provide on-going, holistic social/emotional /mental health support to children, parents and staff whilst embedding theNurture Principles across the schoolMaintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality.Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyones responsibility. In order to fulfil this responsibilityeffectively, all staff must make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they must, at all times, do what is inthe best interests of the child and follow the guidelines set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education.Any other duties as deemed appropriate to the post under the direction of the Headteacher.Qualifications and experience * NVQ level 1 (or equivalent) * Level 1 Safeguarding / Awareness of keeping children safe * Current DBS
