Pre-trade System Engineer

Job Description

The pre-trade systems engineer is responsible for evaluating business requirements and to configure, test and install application software and system management tools, ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.This support is focused towards the pretrade and transaction booking ecosystem, including static data onboarding and maintenance, and reconciliations to master data source systems.Client DetailsA leading corporate and investment bank, and part of one of the largest financial services groups in Africa.Description

• Technical Support: Provide first and second-level support and maintenance of pre and post trade systems including, but not limited to: AxeTrader, MarketAxess, TradeWeb, Markitwire, Bloomberg BMTF/STW/RHUB, ULLink, Integrity and Murex, toensure optimum solutions in the set-up, functioning and integration of these applications into downstream platforms based on a sound understanding of business user requirements, the software applications and the broader technical environment.
• Issue Diagnosis: Investigate and analyse system problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions in a timely manner, in line with change control protocols, to minimize downtime.
• Trading systems maintenance: Assist in maintaining, upgrading and optimizing our trading systems to ensure efficiency and reliability of trading platforms while offering functional support to enhance trading capabilities.
• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including system procedures, configurations and troubleshooting guides.
• Monitoring: Continuously monitor trading systems, identify potential bottlenecks, and taking proactive measure to prevent issues, using monitoring tools like Geneos and Alerting systems such as PagerDuty.
• Identify, analyse, and implement internal process improvements, automating manual processes
• Assistance with London system user access and DR exercises
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and business units, to ensure seamless operations and address system-related and functional requirements

ProfileEssential

• Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in Computer Science, Informatics, or related field
• 2+ years experience in a similar role supporting pre and/or post trade systems in a financial services environment.A detailed knowledge of the following
• Exposure to financial modelling, financial products or banking
• Knowledge of Murex or similar trading system
• Knowledge of, or exposure to, pre-trade systems such as TradeWeb, MarketAxess or AxeTrader

Desirable

• Advanced Excel and database modelling/programming skills
• Knowledge of, or exposure to, Markitwire, Bloomberg and ULLINK
• Exposure to accounting and accounting standards
• Scripting knowledge for function enhancement and automation of repetitive tasks.
• Familiarity with FIX protocol and ITIL or other IT service management framework.
