Job Description

We manage portfolios for corporate pension plans, public pension plans, endowments and foundations, multi-employerpension plans, and sub advisory accounts for other financial services companies. Role Background:The successful candidate will be part of the EMEA Business Development team, working closely with both the PGIM QS Senior Client Portfolio Manager, and his team, and the PGIM Wadhwani investment team, especially the current Deputy Head of Research. He/she willbe based in our London office, and will report directly to the Senior Client Portfolio Manager, whose team supports the PGIM Wadhwani business (and its Investment team). This is an interesting, demanding and varied role, which requires the Portfolio Specialist to work closely with a number of teams globally (including Sales, Marketing, Client Management and the Investments teams). The role also provides an opportunity for thePortfolio Specialist to grow their knowledge of the PGIM Wadhwani strategies and to learn new technical skills, thereby opening up opportunities in a number of different business areas. Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the production, management and development of all PGIM Wadhwani client-facing material, from presentations through to RFPs and intellectual capital (e.g. white papers/blogs/podcasts etc...). This will entail the Portfolio Specialist workingclosely with the investment and product specialist teams based at PGIM Wadhwani in London and help with a broader range of tasks - including helping with the creation and updating of client presentations and answering ad hoc questions from clients. This may,for example, entail helping to create and update a slide library, to be drawn upon by others.
  • To support the investment team in all the many tasks they carry out to support sales, marketing and consultant relations, many of which are data-related and analytical in nature. Some of these tasks entail a knowledge of macroeconomics.
  • Support with the management of client opportunity pipelines and other commercialisation activities, alongside senior management and the sales teams.
  • Assist with the development and project management of bespoke investment "solutions" - such as overlays, carve-outs etc... - to meet our clients needs.
  • Support the Global Consultant Relations team with all relevant consultant facing activity: i.e. searches, analytical work and/or competitive positioning, prepping of marketing materials and positioning concepts ahead of meetings.
  • Work with Newark, NJ (PGIM Quant Solutions headquarters) RFP and Presentation teams as needed to support the effective functioning of the International Sales/Global Consultant Relations teams, alongside their work with the locally-based RFP person.
  • Support the Sales and Marketing team with all other external facing activities (e.g. conferences, client portals, databases etc...). For example, the Portfolio Specialist will help deal with data requests, on both a regular and ad hoc basis, often carryingout calculations from raw data in order to provide answers to questions (e.g. drawdown analysis). He/she will often work with the PGIM Wadhwani Investment Team in getting and analysing data.
  • As the Portfolio Specialist gains experience and knowledge of our internal processes and of the PGIM Wadhwani (growing) offering and developing strategy set, we would hope that he/she contributes to efforts being made to improve the way that we work inwhat is a complicated firm and set of processes. The Portfolio Specialist is also expected, in time, to help develop new and better client-facing material and has the opportunity to get more involved too in understanding the strategies, our research agenda,new models etc....
Qualifications and Candidate Requirements:
  • Ideally 3-5 years experience within the finance industry with experience from a Consultant, Asset Manager, Hedge Fund or an Investment Bank, preferably with some quantitative element to it.
  • Appropriate knowledge and understanding of capital markets, in particular macro/liquid alternatives strategies, preferably with a systematic/quant manager.
  • Educated to at least a university degree level, preferably with a quantitative element to it (e.g. finance, economics, data science...).
  • Possesses strong quantitative skills, with the ability to easily use spreadsheets and models. Past experience in Econometrics is an advantage, as is some programming skills (although it is not essential).
  • A knowledge of Economics is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent ability to deliver under pressure and maintain composure, particularly during periods when numerous deliverables are due at, or around, the same time.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and completeness are a must, given this multi-faceted role
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and logic skills. Proactive in solution solving.
  • Is detail-oriented, able to set priorities and complete simultaneous projects;
  • Maintains high level of productivity and self-direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills on all levels
  • Enjoys being a part of a team but can work independently
  • Embraces and encourages change and development
  • Facility with eVestment Alliance and/or other consultant/industry databases an advantage
  • Knowledge of Vermilion or a willingness to learn it.
  • Knowledge of Seismic or a willingness to learn it.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
