Job Description

Murray McIntosh is pleased to share a brand-new opportunity to join an exciting role within a leading membership organisation, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).This new Political Advisor role will lead the RECs public affairs engagement efforts and shape political messaging within the economic debate. This engagement will span Westminster and the devolved nations, working closely with the Campaigns team to buildrelationships with key stakeholders and build a strong position for the REC with policymakers and other government officials.Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and influencers across all four UK nations.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to build coalitions that amplify the industrys voice.
  • Position the REC to relevant select committees and APPGs.
  • Produce stakeholder mappings and represent the REC at networking events and conferences.
  • Provide briefings and engage in advocacy efforts with the wider Campaigns team.
  • Mentor and develop public affairs skills within the team.
Personal specifications:
  • Demonstrable experience in public affairs within a political environment.
  • Experience working across Westminster and the devolved nations.
  • Parliamentary experience or sound knowledge of government workings.
  • Strong connections within government circles and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and identify political stakeholders to support REC campaigns.
