Together we are seeking to appoint aPMLD Specialist Lecturer - apply today!Job Title: PMLD Specialist LecturerJob Type:PermanentLocation:Kings CrossIndustry:EducationKey responsibilitiesIn thisPMLD Specialist Lecturer job, your responsibilities will include:

  • To provide effective teaching and assessment to students with complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • To develop vocational, communication and independence skills across the learner programmes
  • To act as a tutor to a group of students, including report writing and regular parental liaison. In addition will be the link for all health/therapy input for your tutees ensuring it is smoothly embedded.
  • To ensure that employability is built into and delivered throughout the curriculum.
  • To organise and monitor effective work experience relevant to the learners.
  • To work to improve retention, achievement, and progression.
  • To contribute to appropriate administration tasks including writing regular references and reports on students for LAs, parents/carers, employers and for any other purposes.
  • To participate in the interviewing and enrolling of students and assisting in advice sessions and parents evenings and open evenings.
  • To contribute to the planning and development of the new LLDD curriculum considering the Children and Families Act 10. To develop high quality individual resources for LLDD teaching
  • To ensure high quality documentation and recording of the learner journey
  • To comply with college quality monitoring policies and procedures.
  • To attend course team/department meetings as appropriate.
Skills & experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status Additional Specialist qualification in Autism
  • Certification regarding any SEND training completed
  • Experience of working with SEN learners
  • Experience of working with children diagnosed with ASD
  • Good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and how this relates to nursery and primary school
  • Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on academic content andissues relating to student need.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.
  • Able to identify potential sources of funding
