TEKsystems is engaged with a telecommunications company to recruit 2 Platform engineers.Main Areas of ResponsibilityGuide, shape and contribute to the technical solutions for the migration projectModify existing scripts and if necessary, deliver high quality code to requirements, on time, every timeActively contribute to a positive and high achieving teamKey TasksDelivering excellent production quality code as well as encouraging other developers to do the sameFacilitate peer review of all code producedPromoting the production of reusable code and modules where appropriate with a view to maximising effort and reducing development costs applying principles of Agile delivery where appropriateLiaising closely with other EDM team members and subject matter experts to ensure that accurate and effective support documentation is maintained to reflect code development and changesEnsuring that risks and issues are identified in a timely manner and effectively communicate proposed resolution and mitigation strategies to the assigned Scrum Master or Dev Team LeadWorking within both analysis and test driven development environments showing an excellent understanding of specification documents or test plansBeing proactive in the identification of opportunities to improve and rationalise applications across the whole EDM team, working in close collaboration with other EDM team member and subject matter expertsProactively and positively challenge the status quo and searches for continual improvements to processes and ways of workingHelp to build a positive team environment within direct reports and wider teamRegularly assess own technical ability against peers and ensure progress in ability and skillset.Key CompetenciesExperience of integration projects on a large scale environment(s)Excellent skills in the following technologiesoGood SQL especially if that has been gained in an Ingres DB environmentoUnix scripting especially if that is gained using ksh and on SolarisA proven ability to influence technical decisions in a fast moving commercial environmentDemonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and consistent high energy levelAbility to juggle the (often conflicting) demands of multiple projects and work packagesSome basic knowledge of APIs, Cloud concepts, and network design would be helpful but not essential.Methodical approach to problem solving.Job Title: Platform EngineerLocation: London, UKRate/Salary: 500.00 - 550.00 GBP DailyJob Type: ContractTrading as TEKsystems.
