Job Description

This opportunity is with a national children’s charity recognised as one of the top charities to work for in the UK which is no surprise as there’s a strong emphasis on people, culture, and values. The role reports into the Director of People and Culture. You will have space to take ownership over your role whilst being supported to develop your potential. I have worked with the charity for many years and can personally vouch for this great team and place to work.Your key objectives will be to support the development and implementation of HR activities and key work programmes. Providing professional advice and support to all staff on people-related matters demonstrating the principles of Customer Service Excellence. As an active and responsible member of a collaborative team, you will be championing the organisations values and supporting the work of the charity.Responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Working with the Director of HR to develop and deliver the people strategy.
  • Managing and maintaining the HR database in line with GDPR providing management information and other data collection sources as required
  • Managing the end-to-end recruitment processes for new staff - from advertising to induction including the administration of disclosure checks through an umbrella body.
  • Providing advice and guidance on operational activities in accordance with the staff handbook, good practice and current employment law.
  • Managing the monthly staff payroll changes
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of new processes and HR work programmes
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation and contributing to the profile of the People and Culture directorate and continuously developing new ways of working and promoting best practice.

  • CIPD HR qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A successful track record of HR capacity, including a good working knowledge of HR systems, policies, and processes.
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of employment law and best practice
  • Experience of managing change in organisations
  • Experience of customer service excellence.
  • A wide range of HR experience working with senior members of staff in a support or similar function.
  • Experience of researching and managing projects
  • In-depth experience of working with all programmes in Microsoft Office.
  • Skills/AbilitiesEssential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with staff and a variety of networks.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information held by the charity and, in particular, the issues dealt with at a senior level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to show initiative and work independently - dealing with queries appropriately, making responsible decisions, and taking appropriate action - but willing to take direction.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships. Including the ability to work effectively in a collaborative way, respond willingly to requests from colleagues, deal with conflicting demands and find solutions to problems if they arise.
  • Proven technical IT skills underpinning a HR database, intranet, including word, PowerPoint, Outlook, the internet, and a willingness to learn new software.
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports, letters, materials, etc
  • Ability to plan and work in a systematic way with a minimum of direct supervision and using own initiative
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across the organisation in response to changing needs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, occasional travel
