Job Description

This is a part time, permanent teaching vacancy for an ICT and Computer Science Teacher who can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department. This post will probably involve teaching over two/three days per week, by arrangement.The ability to be flexible about part time working will be a recommendation.Entry to the school is very competitive and pupils are selected via entrance examinations and interview at 11+ or Sixth Form. Girls achieve exceptionally good results in examinations at GCSE and A Level, and progress to some of the best universities in theUK, as well as to top global institutions such as those in the US. the school offers a plethora of co-curricular activities; more than seventy clubs and societies are available every week: before school, at lunchtimes and after school. Music, drama and sportare particularly strong. Community voluntary work and charitable activities are enthusiastically supported by staff and pupils. The school places great emphasis on the professional development of its entire staff. Staff enjoy a significant range of professionalbenefits. A comprehensive schedule of continuing professional development and INSET training, both internal and external, is provided for all staff.The successful candidate will have the ability to teach KS3 and KS4 Computer Science across all age and ability ranges. The ability to teach Computer Science beyond GCSE is desirable. You will be an effective classroom teacher with the ability to raise theachievement of all students and be keen to play a part in the life of the school. You will be proficient in programming Python to at least GCSE standard but you should be flexible enough to deliver general programming constructs in a language neutral environment.ICT and Computer Science are an integral part of the curriculum at KS3. The school is very well resourced, with over 400 PC computers running Windows 10 as well as laptops. The school uses Microsoft Office 365.The successful candidate should:

  • Be an inspirational and skilful teacher of ICT and Computer Science
  • Be an outstanding classroom teacher
  • Have secure subject knowledge and teaching skills
  • Be fully up to date with technologies and developments.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative and be independent
  • Be familiar with the AQA GCSE Computer Science Syllabus
  • Be familiar with the ECDL qualification
  • Have a good honours degree in Computer Science or a relevant subject
  • Have a PGCE and/or QTS (or be a GTP applicant)
  • Use ICT confidently to enhance classroom teaching
  • Be able to teach extra-curricular Oxbridge lessons and supervise the Extended Project Qualification
  • Be willing to lead trips and conferences as required
  • Be willing to lead extra-curricular clubs and societies related to the department.
  • Be willing to play an active role in all aspects of school life; academic, pastoral and extra-curricular.
Other essential requirements include:
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK
