Job Description

We are seeking a Paralegal for the Court of Protection team in an established and well respected Legal 500 law firm in East London. The Court of Protection team are ranked for their work in Legal 500 and recommended by Chambers & Partners.This is an amazing opportunity for someone to join their well-respected department, with the likelihood of a training contract being offered after a years service (dependant on performance). In this role you will

  • Need to be able to keep up with a fast paced environment
  • Be assisting fee earners in all aspects of case preparation
  • Drafting Legal Aid Applications
  • Drafting Court Orders
  • Drafting Witness Statements
  • Conducting Legal Research
  • Processing Evidence
  • Attending to clients
  • Attending case conferences and court hearings
  • Preparation of court bundles
  • Other administrative tasks
The successful candidate will
  • Be able to empathise with vulnerable clients
  • Be a dynamic person, able to keep up with a fast-paced environment
  • Be flexible
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be a good team player
  • Have a genuine interest in court of protection work, with a genuine interest in human rights and a strong desire to represent and secure justice for vulnerable adults.
  • Have strong academics, having obtained a 2:1 at degree level or above.
  • Be able to multi task and prioritise in order to meet time recording and billing targets
  • Be friendly and ambitious
The Court of Protection can make decisions about the health and welfare, and the property and financial affairs of adults who lack mental capacity to make decisions for themselves.
