Job Description

AMDEA is the UK trade association for manufacturers of domestic appliances. Our members produce and distribute consumer and commercial appliances across laundry, drying, refrigeration, floor care, heating and cooling and small appliances. Our members represent over 80% of the UK domestic appliance market, rising to 95% for large white goods. Our role is to represent our members’ interests and objectives in all matters relating to their trading activities within the UK.About the roleThe overall purpose of this role will be to lead and co-ordinate the AMDEA activities relating to our day to day operations and our interfaces with members and public sector stakeholders. This is a multi-disciplined role, suitable for an individual experienced across a cross sector of commercial and NTA disciplines. The role is focussed on the following deliverables

  1. Lead on a number of project/ programme work streams that sit outside of the responsibility of our Technical team and Marketing, Communications and Campaign Manager.
  2. Support the running of our day to day operations through ensuring we have facilities, a platform and toolkit from which the AMDEA team can service our members and stakeholders.
  3. Work with our contracted service partners to ensure the required SLAs and KPIs are in place to meet our business needs. Manage the delivery of services against the SLAs.
  4. Lead the management and oversight of our member Board activities and requirements.
  5. Lead on the co-ordination of AMDEA meetings and events.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the delivery of the member working groups; Consumer and Campaigns group, TC/SAP, SLP and Spare and Service. Set dates, manage group members and invites, gain attendees, agree agendas with the Chairs, take and circulate meeting notes and actions.
  2. Co-ordinate AMDEA work streams for programmes on:- WEEE/ Waste- Circular Economy- Energy Labelling and Energy Efficiency- EU WithdrawalTasks include, co-ordinating the agreement on objective, strategy, work programmes, timelines and outputs for each priority work stream. Building member and stakeholder networks that will facilitate and deliver against the objectives. Prepare briefings and updates showing progress against objectives and key outputs.
  3. Board meetings. Organisation/ secretariat of AMDEA Board meetings. Includes, managing meeting invites and attendees, collation and distribution of papers, setting up of meeting facilities. Preparation, distribution and follow up of meeting notes and actions. Prepare Board reports relating to group and key priority work stream activity updates.
  4. Manage governance relating to the details and registration of the 18 member Board positions. Including obtaining ID, registrations with Companies House, liaison with AMDEA accountants for required company information, reporting and document filing.
  5. Management of member group databases.
  6. Support the CEO on the delivery of the core non-technical work streams, supporting setting agenda and objectives, engage members and stakeholders and provide updates and delivery against agreed milestones and outputs.
  7. Support lead generation and engagement with prospect members with the objective of growing overall membership numbers and revenue.
  8. Co-ordinate quarterly staff meetings. Create the agenda, set the dates, ensure full attendance and prepare/ distribute meeting notes and actions.
  9. Ensure collation and distribution of monthly sell-in data.
  10. Attend events and meetings, representing AMDEA, ensuring we have a voice on the key issues that impact and influence our members’ UK trading activities.
  11. Support day to day interface between AMDEA and our contracted partners relating to finance and accountancy, IT, core services and facilities.
  12. Deputise for the CEO when they are absent.

Knowledge and Experience - Required
  1. Sector experience and competency relating to the consumer electricals sector.
  2. An understanding of the process of creation and influencing relating to regulation and legislation for domestic appliances producers.
  3. Excellent communication skills (written & verbal). The ability to extract pertinent information from regulatory and legislative documents and to explain them in clear and concise language to both technical and non-technical people.
  4. Proven ability in building value propositions which differentiate between activity and outputs.
  5. Experienced in building and maintain relationships at all levels.
  6. Strong organisational, planning and prioritising skills.
  7. Good ICT skills.
  8. Track record of working on detailed proposals with competing demands and responding to tight deadlines.
  9. Ability to work alone, with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  10. An understanding of the role and purpose of Trade Associations in representing their membership.
Knowledge and Experience - Beneficial
  1. Knowledge of environmental standards and regulatory matters relating to consumer electricals.
  2. Networks within UK Government, consumer groups and relevant sector influencing bodies.
  3. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
