Job Description

Operational Risk ManagerWe are currently seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to support the Head of Operational Risk in managing and developing operational risk management practices across a major global bank in London on an initial contract basis. As a key member ofthe Risk Management Department, the Operational Risk Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Operational Risk Management team and contributing innovative insights to enhance BAU operations and the future state of the framework. This role will activelycollaborate with various stakeholders throughout the bank.Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Operational Risk in managing and developing the Operational Risk Framework and its policies.
  • Embed operational risk principles by delivering firm-wide training and providing consultation and advice as needed.
  • Coordinate with "Operational Risk Champions" from the 1st Line of Defence to assess operational effectiveness and impact assessments across the Firm.
  • Lead the ongoing development and execution of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment methodology, process, and assessment tool.
  • Provide oversight and challenge to the firms systems and controls in respect of risk management.
  • Co-manage and produce information packs for Governance Committees.
  • Manage, calculate, and report the Firms monthly Operational Risk Appetite.
  • Deputise for the Head of Operational Risk in relevant forums, working groups, and committees as required.
  • Assist and challenge departments in operational risk loss event analysis and reporting.
  • Enforce Operational Risk standards of action and risk event completion across the Firm through MI escalation and Senior staff engagement.
  • Manage the completeness and integrity of the Key Risk Indicator (KRI) portfolio through thematic reviews and periodic testing.
  • Work with external consultants on ad hoc projects related to operational risk management.
  • Assist in the Operational Risk input into the Prudential Regulatory processes and associated reporting (e.g., ICAAP, ICARA, ILAA, SWDP, etc.).
  • Assist in the performance of annual Operational Risk stress scenarios, assessment processes, and modeling (e.g., Pillar 2a, Harms Assessments).
  • Own and manage ad hoc initiatives to enhance Operational Risk Management effectiveness.
Qualifications:
  • Previous management experience is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in Operational Risk Management.
  • Knowledge and experience of capital markets business, especially Securities and Derivatives products.
  • Familiarity with ICAAP and Risk measurement methodologies.
  • Control, due diligence, or risk review qualifications preferred (e.g., ACA/ACCA or equivalent, FRM/PRM, or relevant CISI certifications).
