Job Description

Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy, Remote Working.Spencer Clarke Group are currently working alongside Tower Hamlets as well as other Local Authorities to hire a range of Occupational Therapists. Home visits are rarely required for this role and you will be working remotely.We are currently looking for dynamic forward thinking Occupational Therapists to join us and have a range of exciting opportunities in our Adult Social Care Directorate. These include positions in our Reablement, Initial Assessment and Locality Teams.Our services are delivered in a locality model to provide excellent support to those that we serve.MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB• To manage all clinical and professional aspects of complex casework, where appropriate, using evidence-based occupational therapy assessment, intervention, planning and reviewing/evaluation skills• To support the team manager / senior staff in order to deliver the key strategic aims of the organisation and to deputise for the Specialist Community OT/Senior Reablement Co-ordinator: OT as required dealing with the day-to-day management and organisation of a specific team.• Identify people at risk of abuse, harm or neglect (safeguarding) and contribute to ensuring their safety through the application of the Tower Hamlets Safeguarding Policy and procedures.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESClinical1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical and professional work and people for whom they provide clinical leadership, professional support and supervision.2. To independently manage complex casework, where appropriate, requiring specialist standardised and non-standardised OT assessment of people with a range of complex needs and multi-pathologies; using clinical reasoning, analytical and communication skills to determine support needs.3. To undertake a range of risk-assessment and action planning functions incorporating safeguarding, capacity and positive risk-taking principles, including specialist manual handling risk assessments, reablement assessments, housing needs/re-housing assessments4. Provide or broker the delivery of a range of outcomes identified with people and their families/carers including, but not limited to, specialist reablement programmes, access to and provision of a broad range of assistive technologies (community/health equipment), environmental redesign solutions, specialist advice and information5. To co-ordinate and provide relevant input into multi-agency liaison, planning and safeguarding meetings to ensure integrated, effective working and clear communication arrangements. This will include feedback communications and discussion with the supported person and their family/carers.6. To be responsible for the maintenance of professional/ethical standards including timely, accurate and comprehensive documentation in line with Health Profession Council (HPC), College of Occupational Therapists (COT) and local standards of practice for self and supervised staff (where appropriate)7. To monitor and ensure adherence to relevant eligibility for services where relevant i.e. FACS8. To utilise a variety of verbal and written communication mechanisms with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure collaborative, multi-agency working ensuring adherence to information governance and sharing protocols and preservation of confidentiality9. To frequently use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication skills to communicate sensitively and empathically with people and their families/ carers to progress all aspects of their supportProfessional/Supervisory10. To be responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of junior staff on a daily basis including the daily supervision (formal or informal), co-ordination and delegation of work to junior staff and students in order to meet service needs on a daily basis.11. Be actively involved with professional clinical groups; such as journal clubs, COT specialist sections, peer review groups and other professional developmental activities within the service.12. To be responsible for the maintenance and development of own competency to practice and professional registration, taking responsibility for ensuring own knowledge and skills are up to date by engaging in and directing continuous professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning.
