Job Description

The Network Systems Engineer is accountable for providing top tier network application and desk side support for local users in London and remote users worldwide.The Network Systems Engineer must share responsibility for a global IT helpdesk inbox as well as documenting all interactions with detailed technical descriptions, root causes and solutions. With extensive knowledge and understanding of networking systems and complex systems the role holder is able to take care of security updates such as desktop OS patches and hotfixes, desktop anti-virus solutions.Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide desk side support worldwide and maintain local workstation hardware
  • Maintain desktop and thin client images and application sets
  • Maintain multiple terminal server systems worldwide and associated thin client workstations
  • Administration and maintenance of the IP telephone system
  • Support corporate applications, servers and user desktops and a small number of user-assigned laptops
  • Install and configure computer hardware, software and network equipment
  • A primary contact for London, Brussels & Asia Infrastructure and Services
  • Ability to effectively develop internal expertise and resources within on all infrastructure matters globally in order to provide the highest level of service
  • Participate in day-to-day enterprise systems operations and support
  • Answer support calls/emails through our central ticket system within Service Level Agreements and to an excellent standard
  • Be available after hours while coordinating with other technicians worldwide
    • Required experience:
  • Hands-on experience in the following areas:
  • Configuring and troubleshooting enterprise systems including Virtualization, Firewalls, VPN, Routers, Switches, Servers, Storage Systems, RAID, Backups, UPS, IP Phones
  • Experience with HP/Aruba Switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Sophos Wireless, Polycom VOIP phones are preferred but not required
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows server operating systems in a global Active Directory domain including Windows 7-10 and Server 2008-2016
  • Maintaining global windows domain (AD) and exchange environment
  • Maintaining and optimizing windows Hyper-V environment
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting office productivity applications such as the MSOffice and Adobe suites
  • Endpoint protection (e.g. Symantec Endpoint Protection)
  • PowerShell scripting
  • AV specialism highly desire-able
  • Self-starter with strong delivery focus; proven track record in delivering complex multi-faceted global projects
  • Experience of working globally essential
  • Must have exceptional time management skills
  • Team player who can work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • 5 years relevant experience working in a corporate IT environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good documentation skills required, including network documentation
  • Able to clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally
