Job Description

Military Ceremonial Events Officer / Protocol Officer & Emergency Chief of Staff - Central London - £45k to £50kThis is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a high level of understanding of the British Army structures, British and Allied military, UK Royalty and peerage, and political bodies. Coordinating major ceremonial events, supporting the Governor andChief Executive on all matters of civil and military protocol, you will be a key player in this key role of the charitable organisation. You will also be responsible for managing the Governors diary and meetings, as well as being the Secretary to Militarymeetings.SALARY ETC:

  • £45,000 to £50,000 + excellent benefits.
  • Central London
  • Permanent, full time. Flexibility is required as evening and weekend work will be necessary, but time off in lieu for events outside regular working hours are given.
  • On-site accommodation is available for which there will be a small charge (due to the nature of this role, living close or on-site in accommodation is recommended/suggested).
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have strong organisational, planning, and interpersonal skills, as well as having the ability to adapt to unexpected situations, and the ability to engage with various audiences.
  • Knowledge of British military structures, and military ceremonial events is fundamental to this role.
  • A high level of understanding of the British Army structures, British and Allied military, UK Royalty and peerage, and political bodies.
  • Experience in operational planning and delivery
  • An understanding of the management of military ceremonial events.
  • Experience in office administration.
  • Experience in operating office ICT systems and databases.
  • Strong organisational & planning skills, with a close eye for detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills & Strong leadership skills.
  • The flexibility to react to the unexpected, and good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to relate positively to a range of customers and audiences, both formally and informally.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
  • Coordinate and administer major ceremonial, military, and major events.
  • Producing comprehensive administrative instructions, including the efficient and responsive administration of ticketing for Veterans, Military, Royal and Honourable guests.
  • Take the lead role for the planning and management of major ceremonial occasions, arrange and service planning meetings, liaise with the Governor and CEO, and leads in other supporting departments and teams.
  • As Chief of Staff, lead staff and planning support to the Governor in responding to emergencies and business continuity responses, coordinating the work of the emergency team, ensuring efficient communication, chasing up agreed actions.
  • Assist the Governor’s engagement with, and participation in, VVIP, ceremonial and representational events and activity, including event planning, liaison and coordination with operational departments and teams, drafting speeches, and providing advice onformal protocol requirements.
  • Facilitate the Governor’s communication within the organisation and external stakeholders with the collaboration of the Executive Assistant to cover absences and busy times.
  • Conduct post event tasks such as reviews and letters of thanks.
  • Work together with Fundraising and Communications over significant events involving key external stakeholders.
  • Secretary to the Military Meeting.
  • Maintain appropriate records, refine existing procedures and develop new procedures as required.
  • At critical times work extended hours and at weekends if necessary and being available by email and phone out of working hours to respond to short notice support on emergency and protocol matters of an urgent nature.
