A brilliant opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Media Relations Manager to join one of the leading international legal firms with responsibility for the planning and execution of the media relations strategy for the firms world-class global litigation and tax practices.This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to develop their PR experience working in-house in a fast paced environment. The firm are looking for a Media Relations Manager to join a team of three other media relations professionals who are each responsible for various practice groups within the business. You will need to be able to grasp a variety of different areas within litigation, including intellectual property, employment, arbitration, litigation & investigations, and the varying topics, priorities, messages and tone within the groups and also the relevant sector media. The role holder will have overall responsibility for the planning and execution of the media relations strategy for the global litigation and tax practices and although based in London, will be a point of contact for international colleagues who require communications advice and direction in relation to these practice groups. The successful applicant will work with key stakeholders to plan, execute, track and evaluate the media relations strategy and activities for the litigation and tax practices. This will include writing media releases and other newsworthy content for the firms website and journalists, writing media briefing sheets, organising interviews and media roundtables and reporting monthly and quarterly to the business on activity and outputs. The role holder will drive tactical news as well as longer term thought leadership and market commentary campaigns and opportunities with spokespeople. Liaising with the wider marketing team and a Social Media Executive on social media posts, organising and offering advice on media training for key spokespeople and preparing awards submissions with the BD team will represent key tasks of this varied and challenging role. The role also includes responsibility for some elements of firm-wide PR such as the firms social mobility strategy, co-ordination and communication of partner and counsel promotions and working with the events team to organise the annual media party.A successful candidate will be a seasoned practitioner with in-house or agency PR experience, preferably gained within the legal or professional services sector to include demonstrable success in planning and implementing global PR campaigns as well as tracking and evaluating activity. A confident, pro-active self-starter and an avid consumer of news, the Media Relations Manager will need well-established relationships with journalists, the confidence to work with people at all levels of the firm, excellent communication skills and a strong ability to be articulate in providing advice.
