Job Description

Media and PR Officer, joining a growing Medical/Health Charity based in West London. Offering Hybrid working pattern of both office based and homeworking.Joining a Communications and Engagement Team, focused on ensuring the charities brand is enhanced amongst the public in the UK. Achieved through proactive media relations and securing national and regional broadcast coverage, with the goal of raising awarenessof blood cancer, and motivating people to register as donors and/or support work in other ways such as raising funds, volunteering etc.Media & PR Officer, working with the Communications Manager and team, you will:

  • Lead on media relations and secure national and regional online, print, and broadcast coverage.
  • Research key media targets, developing media lists and pitching ideas and stories to media.
  • Monitor the daily news agenda to identify opportunities to act on.
  • Devise content; press releases, feature articles and statements, covering the charities work
  • Build relationships with journalists, ensuring the charity is at the forefront for comments, information and stories
  • Receive and respond to media enquiries and advise / brief spokespeople on media opportunities.
  • Play a key role in supporting communications and campaigns activities, delivering PR activities.
  • Work with colleagues to source case studies, bringing to life stories for media and PR purposes.
  • Media and social monitoring, producing daily news summary reports.
We are looking for you to have previously worked in PR, Communications or Journalism and/or working in a busy press office. Demonstrable understanding and working knowledge of the UK media landscape. Experience of targeting specific audiences in a B2C andB2B environment. Experience of creating and disseminating a range of content including personal stories, international and scientific content.
