As a global network of over 900 employees in 14 office locations, TAIT has worked on projects in over 30 countries, all 7 continents and even outer space.TAITs diverse group of clients include Taylor Swift, Cirque Du Soleil, The Metropolitan Opera House, NASA, National Geographic, Beyonc and The Olympics.We are hiring a Mechanical Service & Support Engineer who will be responsible for meeting the daily service, maintenance and repair needs of our customers equipment.Whether its a permanent installation in a theatre or a temporary installation for a live event, you will be the expert that provides an on-site mechanical support service to ensure our clients events always run smoothly and safely.You could be working at a theatre production in the West End one week and the next be flying out to support a client overseas so a willingness travel is essential!Purpose:To be responsible for site mechanical technical inspections, maintenance, procedures and documentation for all mechanical equipment on external client sites.Key Responsibilities:The Mechanical Service & Support Engineer will be responsible for meeting the daily service maintenance and repair needs of the customers equipment. Establish and maintain relationships with TAIT customers.

  • Work proactively, taking the initiative where necessary and with minimum supervision.
  • Test, configure and prepare equipment for use on site.
  • Assisting with mechanical system commissioning.
  • On occasion lead mechanical maintenance and site works
  • Fully understand LOLER and PUWER regulations
  • Perform inspections at client sites, identify mechanical problems and configure solutions
  • Perform the safe installation of temporary lifting systems
  • Perform fixed position work in a harness at height
  • Plan and calculate safe lifting procedures in accordance with LOLER with the Support Management team.
  • Maintain TAIT Support rigging stock
  • Prepare technical and inspection documentation
  • Play an active role in the support team and work with other departments to ensure the smooth running and economic success of the company and in generating new business.
  • Demonstrate continuous diplomatic effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide excellent seamless customer service.
  • Make sure all final reports, documentation and tickets are kept in order and up to date, logging all work appropriately
  • Assist Support Management specifying, planning, and executing project in a timely, cost-effective, profitable and professional manner.
  • Be able to travel at short notice, possibly internationally to support clients with emergency breakdowns. Be on site within 90 minutes for London clients.
  • Assisting with the diagnosis, review and prioritizing resolution of issues and tickets reporting back to the Support Manager or Senior Support Manager promptly.
  • Engage in knowledge management and sharing process by creating and contributing to learning materials and manuals within the team and between departments.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Use in CAD systems to a basic level.
  • Good IT skills
  • Understanding of LOLER and PUWER requirements
  • Trained in mechanical system service and maintenance
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate written and verbal communications at all levels.
  • Personable with effective listening skills and the ability to clarify and confirm technical support requirements.
