Job Description

We are actively working with a specialist Electrical Vehicle developer who have adapted a range of utility vehicles to 100% battery power The vehicles are distributed and sold globally, predominately to Industrial, Environmental Engineering, Exploration& Research and Geological Surveying sectors.Using advanced and evolving technology the company are investing heavily in innovation and development to meet the increasing demands for quality and robust electric utility vehicles.As part of their expansion the company are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer.Based from home , as a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the design, manufacture & assemble process of mechanical components. The role is to provide production program support in identification and qualification of mechanical and parts, materials,and processes, as well as lead the efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, cost reduction, reliability improvement purposes, and component End-of-Life (EOL) management.As a mechanical your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess projects overall requirement of implementations
  • Plan and project budgets, timescales and specifications with clients and managers
  • Perform mechanical calculations and CAD/DMU management
  • Update drawing, build designs and technical project data to enable input and make necessary changes to modelling as per feedbacks
  • Develop and execute reliability test plans for components to check the latest results to draw conclusions on the outcome and identify risks for assessment
  • Issue Engineering change requests and change Orders
  • Review and address Product Change Notices (PCNs) from component manufacturers
  • Track component lifecycles and identify drive solutions to resolve End-of-life (EOL) and obsolete situations to minimize impacts
  • Source required components and select the best materials to use
  • Work closely with the mechanical engineering team to identify components compliant to parts, materials, and process requirements
  • Ensure purchased components and sub-assemblies are totally compliant to necessary environmental and safety standards
A great opportunity to joining a fast growing sector and a dynamic , agile player the successful candidate must have/be all the of the following:
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within the Automotive sector
  • Experience of SOLID WORKS (or other high level CAD package)
  • Strong skill set in CAD package/DMU and PLM data management
  • Excellent mechanical design knowledge and ability to do hand calculations for structural elements
  • Knowledgeable in automotive systems, i.e. braking system, suspension, chassis,
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in relation to vehicle dynamics and electric vehicle drivetrain design.
  • Hands-on experience working in a workshop with tools and machines to conduct inspections and part modifications/re-work
The successful candidate will be rewarded with a basic salary of £50k-£55k company pension , 25 DH ( +BH), training & development, long term career progression opportunities as the company grows.
