Market Data Curves Manager

Job Description

Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets.The Curves Manager will be responsible for the provision of external price information used across the Centrica business and for managing new and amended forward curves processes, as well as monitoring and maintaining existing external price feeds and forwardcurves.The role holder will assist with the teams responsibilities to design and implement statistical methodology to proxy mark existing forward curves, as well as BAU responsibilities to calibrate volatility and correlation.The Curves Manager will manage all related processes under responsibility, including supervision of BAU activity, e.g.:

• Construction, validation and maintenance of market curve data management
• Production and maintenance of long dated commodities curves from 3rd party suppliers used by the wider Centrica fianc group for the valuation of long term assets
• Day to day management of 2 Curve analysts
• Direct project-based work related to achieving the Curves Team Target Operating Model (TOM)
• Ownership of new data request inputs
• Share knowledge (both existing and newly gained from projects) with the wider Curves and Product Control teams.

This is a London (close to Marble Arch) based role with hybrid working (2-3 days per week based out of our office).The Job role:

• Perform daily validation control of external price information to ensure quality and integrity
• Be central point of contact for market data, DataGenics and other vendors for the business at large
• Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders to ensure clear scoping of curves library maintenance
• Act as central contact with off-shore external support teams to identify cause and resolution of any data feed issues into curve database & ETRM systems
• Oversight of daily curves population and maintenance
• Identification of areas/processes where development is required to achieve efficiency gains and/or strengthen controls for the Curves team and the wider EM&T platform
• Develop, train and mentor other members of the Curves team.

The Person:

• Experience in financial markets, with specific knowledge of Commodities products highly desirable
• Trading House or Investment Banking background preferable
• Strong numerical and analytical skills are a must
• Advanced level Excel/VBA and strong knowledge of MS Office applications
• Strong evidence of ability and willingness to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
• Proactive with a strong motivation to change and improve existing processes
• Effective communication and sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables
• Team player
• Problem solving skills
• Proven track record of bringing projects to fruition and ability to drive change
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence decisions in line with Curves objectives and controls agenda.
