Marine Planning Officer (Offshore Wind)Full timeFlexible working arrangements (can work from home but must be able to travel to London for meetings)£24,000Fixed term contract for 36 MonthsOur client is working to bring wildlife back to our land and seas and make nature a part of life, for everyone. They’re helping to make life better - for wildlife, for people and for future generations.Their vision is a world where people are close to nature, with land and seas rich in wildlife. But the climate and the natural world are in crisis. Much of our wildlife has disappeared and wild places are becoming smaller and disconnected from each other. This contributes to the climate emergency and, at the same time, means wildlife is less able to adapt to the changes in climate that we are already seeing. Across society, people are suffering from lack of access to, and connection with, nature. We urgently need nature to recover. They are currently looking for a Marine Planning Officer to help influence offshore wind development policy and the marine spatial planning process to improve the quality of decisions taken at a project and strategic level. The role will deliver the Trusts’ belief that development in the marine environment should be the right technology, in the right place, and not at the expense of the natural environment. They are looking for someone with the following:Good knowledge of marine biodiversity, marine ecosystems and maritime industries.A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.Knowledge of marine science and legislation and experience of policy work.Experience of networking with a wide range of people.Excellent written and spoken communication for a wide range of audiences.Understanding of marine wildlife conservation issues. Together they have 850,000 members, 35,000 volunteers and 2,000 staff across the UK, Alderney and the Isle of Man. They value courage, respect, integrity, trust and responsibility. They are wild about inclusion! They know wildlife will benefit from their people being as diverse as nature is, so they particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within this sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, they are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Required skills
