Managing an in house UCL workforce of 250 staff and a contractor workforce ofover 1,000, the primary function of the division is to provide all Facilities Management services including, cleaning, security and maintenance.About the roleWe are recruiting for a CHP (Combined Head and Power) Operative to join our fantastic Maintenance Operations team. As a CHP Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive and planned electrical maintenance/repairs to high standards of safety,customer service and efficiency. You will work on MTHW and steam boilers, CHP plant, district heating plant and their associated control systems, investigate, analyse and repair faults on Utilities plant and equipment, respond to breakdown, fault and servicerequest calls, and assist other tradesmen in completing diagnostic work and then carry out any remedial work.You will be expected to complete tasks in line with current health and safety requirements, statutory requirements and to a high standard. An essential part of this role will be communicating as you will be working directly with stakeholders, and term contractorsto complete works and keep the University functioning.This role will be based onsite at our Bloomsbury Campus.Working hours Mon - Thurs 8am - 4.30pm, Fri 8am - 4pm.Overtime available.About youTo excel in this role you need practical experience and training in the operation and maintenance of pipework fabrication equipment, as well as the ability to undertake basic fault finding using diagnostic equipment, BMS, mechanical and electrical drawings,manuals and personal experience. You should have the experience, understanding and ability to monitor plant status, interpret alarms, etc.You will have experience working in a large and complex organisation, preferably in a higher education institution or comparable environment. Youll be confident, organised and able to work under pressure, prioritise work tasks and be able to communicatewith stakeholders as well as colleagues at all levels. You will have sound literacy and numeracy skills, a willingness and ability to work flexibly across a range of sites/buildings and adjust hours of work to provide optimal service to customers and a commitmentto delivering an excellent service.What we offerAs well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer great benefits, some of which are below:
