We are currently seeking to broaden the membership of the London Advisory Committee.The London Advisory Committee offers experienced advice to staff and Commission on Historic Englands functions under the National Heritage Act 1983, and other relevantlegislation, relating to individual buildings, monuments, conservation areas, parks and gardens in London and in particular policy matters and casework where it is novel, contentious or sets a precedent.The LAC comprises members with a broad range of skillsand expertise, including the following areas: Conservation architecture Modern architecture Planning and local government Urban design Gardens and landscapesWe are seeking to appoint three new members and are particularly keen to boost our expertise in thefollowing areas: Property Development Urban Archaeology Place making/master planning/urban designHistoric England recognises the positive value of diversity and promotes equality and challenges discrimination. Meetings are usually of half day duration and take place in the morning. Site visits are generallyundertaken over a half day, two days prior to the meeting itself. Sharing expertise with other LAC members and Historic England staff. Participation in occasional day conferences and seminars to assist in Historic Englands strategic development.Skills, knowledgeand experience Beyond experience of the particular areas of expertise and interest outlined above, no formal qualification or professional status is required to fulfill the role.
