At The Passage we have a Locum Bank of Casual Workers who provide temporary cover, ensuring our services can continue to run smoothly when there are staffing gaps. We are looking for people who would be interested in joiningour locum bank to work across our services.The Passage runs range of services including our Community Intervention Team daytime street outreach service, The Passage Resource Centre, and several supported accommodation projectsall located in the heart of Westminster.Our aim is to support people who may be affected by homelessness to recover and move away from a street lifestyle permanently by providing person centred and trauma informed support.Depending on your skills, expertise and preferences, you may be covering outreach shifts where you engage with people in a street-based setting, working in the Resource Centre to support clients engaging with one of our Community Service teams, or coveringshifts in one of our accommodation services providing support to the residents.Shifts are available for both day and night worker roles, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.These important Locum Bank of Casual Workersroles will suit people with:

• Some experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change.
• An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people and deal with those who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation.
• Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives.

As a casual locum worker, you will work flexibly on an ad hoc or temporary basis and can chose to work the shifts that best fit your circumstancesthis can be day or night and covering different level roles, depending on your experience. In order to provideyou with ongoing support you will be allocated a supervising manager and you will have access to training to ensure you have the tools to keep our clients safe.We have the following roles available:

• Locum Staff: £12.03 p/h
• Montford House Night Concierge Locums - £11.95 p/h

Please note we do not offer an enhanced rate for bank holidays, except Christmas Day only.Specific Locum Bank of Casual Workersrole responsibilities will be dependent on the service, but could include:

• Working as part of the team to provide a safe and welcoming environment for homeless and vulnerable people
• Providingaccessible and relevant services for the people that we work with
• Engagingand assessing clients & residents and provide appropriate sign posting and onward referrals to meet the individual client needs
• Inducting new clients/residents to the service
• Assessing any risk to clients, the environment and staff, record and communicate any risks identified using appropriate channels, and support staff to minimise risks to the best of your ability thus maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff
• Working as part of a team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service

Our idealLocum Bank of Casual Workers will have the following experience and knowledge which will need to be demonstrated on the application form:Experience

• In depth experience of working, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, with vulnerable people who present with challenging behaviour.
• Experience of working with individuals coping with substance misuse and mental health issues
• Experience of working with relevant legislation relating to welfare benefits and housing and homelessness issues.
• Experience of working with homeless people
• Experience of working in a day centre, drop-in, hostel, residential or similar setting

Knowledge

• Knowledge of equal opportunities and health and safety related issues and the implications of both within the working environment.
• Knowledge of recent Government homelessness initiatives
• Able to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures
• Understanding and experience of working with people from different cultural backgrounds
• Knowledge of working with clients in a psychological informed environment
