Legal Counsel - Birmingham / London - PERMANENTMy client is a Public Sector company who are working on one of UKs largest programmes at present. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Legal Counsel to join the business on a permanent basis - the role can be based from either their London or Birmingham offices. Ultimately, as a Legal Counsel you will deliver a full range of expert legal advice to the business and key internal stakeholders in order to optimise contractual outcomes for the company in relation to a variety of subjects (supply chain, utilities, local authorities etc.). You will support compliance with legislation and regulations with respect to the programme of work, with minimal supervision. LEGAL COUNSEL DUTIES:- Assist with the provision of high quality legal support including drafting documents - Provide advice to staff at all levels on all aspects of commercial / contracts law - Ensure the company is not exposed to undue risk and business standards are adhered to- Assist with provision of statutory advice as required - Assist with advice on resolution of contractual claims and disputes - Manage the provision of external legal support where required - Contribute to the preparation and drafting of reports for Senior Management LEGAL COUNSEL SKILLS:- Ideally a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with construction / infrastructure knowledge- Specialist in Contract Law and / or Procurement Law - Knowledge of public sector procurement processes would be highly advantageous- Commercial Legal background of construction or infrastructure projects, or working for Government Departments, Utilities or Transport projects either in-house or in private practice- Track record of serving as the main point of contact to clients- Able to produce and present complex documents and reports to a variety of audiences - Able to prepare complex legal drafting without supervision- Skilled in working on a wide range of commercial legal issues - Able to influence stakeholders at all levels to build effective working relationships - Problem solving skills - Able to balance and prioritise numerous tasks - Advanced planning and organisational skills If interested and you match the criteria above, please send your CV for immediate consideration.
