  • We are looking for a commercial lawyer with PQE to come and join the EMEA Legal team.
  • Youll be responsible for providing high-quality legal advice on commercial issues and manage the careful balance between risk & revenue generation, and commercial reward.
  • Reporting into the Head of Legal for EMEA and Group, you’ll be working with stakeholders at all levels across the business.
  • It is an impactful role working in a very busy and fast paced environment.

As Legal Counsel EMEA, you will:
  • Provide commercial legal services to the EMEA business, dealing with wide-ranging queries from all parts of the region & organisation.
  • Review, prepare and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents and contracts (including confidentiality, supplier, wholesale customer, e-com, property and other commercial agreements) to assist and support various business activities.
  • Provide advice and solutions on existing and proposed commercial issues and transactions affecting the EMEA region.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business at all levels from entry-level roles up to regional management.
  • Support the development of processes, know-how, templates and precedents across the Legal team.
  • Keep abreast of legal developments impacting the commercial and transactional side of the EMEA business and providing training where appropriate.
  • Work closely with your line manager and the other members of the EMEA Legal team to plan your workload in alignment with company and Legal team objectives.

  • Significant proven post-qualification experience, including in-house experience, preferably in a multi-jurisdictional business.
  • You will be expected to use your professional judgment to make decisions that impact business operations, both long and short-term.
  • You will work directly with stakeholders across all business functions, using your specialist legal expertise to influence business decisions with support from your line manager.
  • You have a proven track record in providing accurate and effective legal counsel and experience handling wide ranging business and commercial transactions.
  • You are influential, helpful and a strong team player, you’ll need to lead and collaborate across functions.
  • You have the ability to communicate with impact; you deliver messages clearly and succinctly.
  • You have a strong sense of initiative and a flexible, “can do” attitude with the ability to adapt according to business need.
  • You have excellent time management and prioritisation skills; you understand Dr. Martens is a fast-paced environment.
  • You work well under pressure, are self-motivated, and can manage upwards.
  • You have a flexible approach to work, especially when working to deadlines and business activity across various time zones.
  • You have high standards and attention to detail; we can depend on you to remember the finer details at all times.
  • You are strategic, a highly skilled problem solver and you plan ahead.
