Job Description

Stephenson Harwood is a law firm with 1100+ people worldwide, including more than 180 partners. Our headquarters are in London, with 9 offices across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.We are currently seeking a Legal Cashier to join our Accounts team.The London accounts team currently comprises of 28 employees and is headed up by Simon Griffith, the Director of Accounts, who reports into Joanna Theodosiadou, the worldwide Director of Finance. The team is made up of several discrete sections: management accounts; purchase ledger; partners personal accounting; credit control; cashiering and billing.Main Responsibilities- Production of Office and Client Account cheques- Banking of Office and Client Account cheque receipts (Banking Rota for going to the bank)- Processing Client to Office transfer- Posting of investment account interest- Bank Reconciliations for Client Account on a daily basis and USD/Euro Client and Office Accounts on a daily basis- Monthly Reconciliation of Investment Accounts and Consolidated Client Accounts- Daily Bank Balances- Using our online banking system (Bankline) for internal transfers and foreign supplier payments- Running half yearly Interest Calculations (and on completion of matters)- Petty Cash and Foreign Currency ordering and reconciliations- Allocation of Client and Office Receipts- Client Payments- Providing general holiday cover for other members of the Cashiering team- Daily filing of all paperwork- Residual client balances- Office Credits/Unpaid Costs Report/Negative Unbilled Soft Costs Report - Daily checking- Audit RequestsAttributes/Skills required - Working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules- Aderant knowledge would be advantageous but not essential- Excel knowledge- Ability to prioritise and manage workload- Good attention to detail- Well organised, team player with a flexible and willing attitude- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationshipsThis job description is indicative only and does not represent an exhaustive list of responsibilities.
