About the role- Learning Support AssistantYou will be working with Primary aged students (3-11years) with Speech and Language Communication Needs. Some children and young people find it difficult to listen, understand and communicate with others and may need support to develop the skills involvedwith this, it will be your role to help develop these. You may be working with students who are completely non-verbal or may struggle with being able to verbalise fully so experience using forms of non-verbal communication such as PECS and Makaton are highlydesirable for applicants to this role. Conditions which may affect speech and language include, but are not limited to Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral palsy and others.About the School- Learning Support AssistantThis is a mainstream primary school that has a Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN) provision onsite. The school has 230 students currently with 8 students with SLCN in the provision. You will work with students both in small group sessions andin the wider mainstream classroom as integration is central to learning in this school and learning alongside peers is encouraged. They are committed to the academic and personal development of all pupils regardless of ability.
