Job Description

We are working with a Outpatient Diagnostic Centre in the heart of the city to recruit a permanent full time experienced Lead Mammographer to work 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday Only. The Clinic provides a range of services led by consultants, who are highlyexperienced and specialise in areas including Orthopaedics, Sports and Exercise Management, Physiotherapy, Dermatology, Cardiology, Osteopathy, Mammography and Pain Management.Lead Mammographer Job Role:As the Lead Mammographer you will be based in the Mammography Department at the Clinic and will work closely with the Clinic Manager, General X-ray and CT Superintendent, Divisional Manager, Lead Mammographer and Development team. Your role will includemaintaining and enhancing the Breast imaging service and offering to their patients and stakeholders. A flexible and adaptive working attitude is crucial, along with a desire to lead the Breast imaging service, attend monthly MDTs and support and guide theother Mammographers working within the department. Using your own initiative in responding to the needs of the service, you shall have a strong focus on streamlining the patient pathway through the imaging department. This role would be leading the breastservice at the Clinic.Lead Mammographer Duties:

  • Work with a team of Senior and Superintendent Radiographers to provide high standards of service to all of the clinics customers.
  • Support the breast imaging service on a daily basis and liaise closely with the Clinic Manager at the Clinic and General X-ray & CT Superintendent at other Hospitals.
  • Be responsible for the daily management of the Mammography Service in liaison with the Superintendent Radiographers and organising the daily work programme to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
  • Perform high quality examinations as required by referring physicians according to departmental policies and procedures. Ensuring that all patients being imaged receive a high standard of care.
  • Ensure that monitoring standards provide a high quality service for patient care, technical performance and reporting.
  • Accurately analyse the acquired data, record results and produce high quality images for reporting.
  • Keep up to date with developments in Breast imaging and take full responsibility for the teaching of other staff.

Qualifications/Experience Required:
  • BSc or DCR in Radiography as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography.
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Substantial mammography experience (minimum of 3 years) including biopsy experience.
  • Knowledge of radiation regulations.
  • Be fully conversant with the Radiology Information System (RIS), PACS, and the computerised method of patient and examination documentation.
  • Desirable experience would include being trained on Hologic Mammography equipment and Bard Vacuum biopsy system.
