We believe were working with a truly transformative technology right now to harness the power of unstructured data throughNatural Language Processing; and were looking for a talented individual to help us realise its potential.The Bank has a huge, untapped resource in the form unstructured data contained in calls with customers, webchats, e-mail and a host of other documents. We have a range of technologies to capture it and we want to lead on harnessing its potential. The opportunitywe have to offer is the role of Lead Data Scientist.This is a key leadership role within the team. As the Lead Data Scientist, you will act as both a technical leader and team manager, working on a range of interesting projects and supervising highly skilled data scientists.Responsibilities will focus on ensuring the successful delivery of data science projects and contributing to the strategy and development of the Natural Language Data Science community within LBG.What will I do as a Data ScientistWe take ideas from the concept stage and work with our customers to understand how Natural Language Processing and Natural Language Generation machine learning techniques can be applied.You will support all stages of a project from working with the business stakeholders and users to exploring the problem statement, exploring our data assets, experimenting with different modelling approaches and developing systems powered by Machine Learningall within an iterative and Agile environment. This means a focus on improving our customer and colleague journeys. You will need to understand the business requirements and work with POs and Engineers to represent them through the creation and prioritisationof work for the development team.You will develop experimental models and Machine Learning systems in Python, supporting other Data Scientists and working in close collaboration with the end users and business SMEs.Your models will have a material impact on the lives of up to 30m+ customers across the whole of the UK.In particular, in this lab, you will work with varied groups of stakeholders across the Group to actively research and find opportunities to realise value. This includes: understanding the range and type of third party products available. Defining futureproduct features. Looking for opportunities around the business. Working closely with our team of Data Scientists & Engineers, and ensuring propositions are grounded in whats technically feasible. Day to day activity is structured through Agile, which meanstaking a full part in the teams agile ceremonies and always being the voice of the customer in the daily stand-ups, refinements and retrospectives.Are you who were looking forWere keen to speak to you if you have a track record of delivering data science projects within commercial environments. • A strong communication "toolkit" enabling you to communicate to technical/non-technical audiences
• A commercial and strategic mindset with ability to provide analytical solutions to business objectives and problems
• The ability to present the learnings from these techniques in a clear, visual manner to support senior stakeholder decision making is key to the success of our projects.
• Youll need to be comfortable dealing with a degree of ambiguity and using your initiative.
• Naturally we expect you to create a collaborative working environment that empowers the team and keeps the creative juices flowing.

This role will also involve being hands-on in a technical capacity and as such we are looking for Data Scientists that can deliver to robust technical standards.

• A strong theoretical and applied knowledge of Machine Learning techniques especially in the Natural Language domain or working with other unstructured data
• A good understanding of Python is also required including how to write modular Pythonic code, familiarity with the core Python data structures and fluency with pandas; a familiarity with unit testing would be beneficial.
• Experience implementing and supporting Machine Learning systems including automating data validation, model training, model validation and model monitoring would also be very useful.
• Awareness of latest industry technical developments, emerging trends, new technologies, best practice for Natural Language
