IPSO Appointment Panel - MemberThe Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is the independent regulator of most of the UKs newspapers and magazines, including around 95% of national daily newspapers by circulation. More information about IPSO is available on its website at ipso.co.uk.IPSO is seeking to appoint a new Lay member for its Appointment Panel, which makes appointments to IPSOs Board.The IPSO Appointment Panel plays an essential role in securing IPSOs independence and in ensuring that it is led by individuals with the appropriate mix of talents and experience. To fill these posts, we seek individuals with a range of backgrounds to complement the existing Panel.Wholehearted commitment to freedom of expression and IPSOs role in upholding the highest editorial standardsThe post holders may not have any personal or professional connection to the newspaper or magazine industry, or to any organisation that is or could be regulated by IPSO.Knowledge and experience of governance processes will be an advantage.These roles have occasional duties when vacancies on the Board arise and are remunerated by the half day for duties undertaken; the time commitment varies but can be estimated at 2-5 days per year.The closing date for both posts is 30 April 2021.Applications via email please via the button below with a cv and explanation of your interest and suitability for the role.
