We are currently looking for a Lab Technician to work with the Sciences Research Hub, you will be based at White City, London. Currently because of the current situation you will work 1 week on and 1 week off. This may change in time depending on the business needs. The position is temporary position for up to 6 months. Core hours will be 9-5pm with some slight flexibility.The post provides a technical service to laboratories in the Department of Chemistry. Assisting students and staff with equipment used in their activities, this requires a flexible and multidisciplinary approach. The post holder will be a member of a technical services team working closely with senior technical staff and be line managed by the Technical Services Manager.Working collaboratively with the current technical services team, the main duties of the post will include:Be able to carry out routine tasks such as delivery of dry ice and liquid nitrogen to the laboratories, training will be provided.Organise the collection of waste solvents and chemicals from laboratories including helping to optimise operational processes in response to Health and Safety recommendations and the coordination and delivery of collection rotas which will involve some lifting and repetitive processes. Manual Handling training will be provided for this.Provide general technical support to the research laboratories in the Department of Chemistry based within the Molecular Sciences Research Hub (MSRH).Provide assistance to other technical services staff in the performance of their duties as required.
